This video has been doing the rounds in the figure skating community for a few months now. On Ice Perspectives are really talented at on-ice camera work and are a great channel if you want to just watch some cool figure skating but this one went straight up viral. And, well, to be honest I put off watching it because I wasn't in the right mind space to watch figure skating videos what with the rinks being closed.

The rinks are still closed and I still have a hard time watching skating videos but I finally bit the bullet and watched it yesterday. Boy, I fucking cried like a baby. There's something to be said about how beautiful that remix of Nothing Else Matters is, as well, but these two have a style of soft dance I really, really enjoy. And I want to make sure you too, dear tilder, can appreciate this too. (Especially you @kfwyre, hi! ❤️)

Thanks for the ping, Adys. I’m not subbed to ~sports so I would have missed this otherwise! I appreciate you thinking of me, as this was absolutely something I needed to see. I hope you’re able to get back to skating soon.

Also, I’ll keep the recommendation chain going: @cfabbro, you need to get in on this. Normally dance videos are 🔥🔥🔥 but this one is ❄️❄️❄️ instead. In the best possible way.

I'm Canadian, so being a fan of hockey and/or figure skating (and curling) is almost mandatory here. ;) Hadn't seen this vid yet though, so thanks for the ping... it was awesome! And speaking of...

And speaking of figure skating; The World Championships are currently in progress (Men's free skate is on right now, Ice Dance is later today), and I was even considering submitting the Pairs Gold yesterday because of how insane it was. But I might as well share it here: Russians Mishina and Galliamov skate to world championship pairs gold medal

p.s. One of my absolute favorite figure skating videos:
Bradley Friesen - Canadian National Figure Skater at 2500' in the mountains

I promise I wasn't trying to pigeonhole you! Both of those videos were excellent. I can't imagine how amazing it must feel to skate a lake like she does in the second one. I love how it's just her...

Speaking of, from an article about the video:

Speaking of, from an article about the video:

Friesen filmed Putnam skating atop frozen Widgeon Lake near Coquitlam and recently posted the final result to YouTube. For Putnam, a former Skate Canada national team member, it was one of the highlights of her career.

“I’ve had the pleasure of performing in Central Park and different unique places around the world, but that was, by far, one of the most special experiences I’ve ever had, because it was just untouched,” she said.

Putnam’s performance looks carefully orchestrated but she said “not too much was planned.” Instead of a highly choreographed routine, Putnam and Friesen chose to find inspiration in the pristine environment that surrounded them.

“It was really, really liberating. It was just so free and so quiet,” Putnam said. “In the competitive environment, there are so many eyes on you…this was so peaceful and so unique because of the space and the serenity of it all.”

When I was watching her skate, I couldn’t help but think it felt like a visual metaphor for someone who thrives in isolation. She was separate from everything but doing something she loved.

Hahaha I figured you wouldn't be subscribed to ~sports that's why I pinged! Just so you know, your comment absolutely made my day, thank you for that :) They really are mesmerizing, aren't they?...

They really are mesmerizing, aren't they? Really, really good synchronicity, perfect rythm with the music, the choreography is great, and those lunges are so perfect. (2:01, that jump landing on a backwards lunge, MAN!)
