What did you do this week (and weekend)?

As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!

Last Saturday, my partner and I threw a party / had a commitment ceremony at the local science museum. It was a lot like a wedding, except that we didn’t get legally married. We both had a blast, and everything went really well. We’ve been together almost six years now, and I’ve known since I was a teenager that I never wanted to be legally married. He didn’t have a strong opinion either way, so here we are.

He’s spent the rest of this week doing an electrical overhaul of my new/old truck, so I finally get to have CarPlay! Really looking forward to that. :)

For the last 9 months, she gets flu-like symptoms for a week every month. She never tests positive for any infections and the doctors can't figure it out.

She has an extensive history of auto-immune issues so it's probably connected to that, but we still don't have a diagnosis.

Onboard training, mostly watching project managers coordinate a project. It's super boring to watch, even if they're at an exciting phase where they're rolling out on-site infrastructure in a week. The rest is completing these training modules I have to do, and getting ready for more training in Chicago at the end of the month, which should be fun.

I bought a MKUltra Pancake keyboard kit so I can finally have a bluetooth 4x12 keyboard, and look forward to assembling it when I get the control board and battery from Adafruit, but that'll probably be next weekend. I also want to make the pancake recipe printed on the bottom plate.

I switched my Surface Go to Fedora which worked surprisingly well OOTB, but still wound up adding the linux-surface kernel to it because I didn't have frequency scaling or a cursor. I just went with Workstation, since GNOME is nice for tablets (I'm normally a KDE guy these days). I then installed Fedora on my desktop (next to my beloved Arch install) to pre-work a bunch of things I'll want on the tablet and understand what I'm doing so I can roll it out on my Surface. I also bought a dock for it for like $30 that works just fine.

I upgraded my desktop's Windows 10 install to 11 while I worked on my work laptop and it's been near seamless. Some stuff like FlexASIO broke, but I just need to take a few minutes and see about fixing it. Everything else that is more or less standard, like applications and settings, is working totally fine. I even sort of like the GNOMEy look to everything.
