Don't mean to pressure anyone reading this, just wanted to get some visibility for that post. The number of donors has skyrocketed but we can go even higher — remember, Tildes is totally non-profit and therefore not profit driven!
It's just about perfect. It has everything needed to be fully functional on both desktop and mobile. No more, no less. It's even better than the old Reddit UI.

Exactly; 1 post doesn't take up 1/4 of my monitor, and the fact that there are multiple variants of in-built themes (light and dark) is even better. I've always preferred the compacted, minimalist...

I've always preferred the compacted, minimalist style that many old forums and sites used to have, even though everything is migrating towards "modern" (bulky).

Yeah, I'm really thankful to have found tildes and been given an invite code (only 2 day via email! I was expecting it to take weeks to months). Many of the alternatives haven't been quite what I was looking for, but tildes seems to be exactly what I wanted (basically reddit from a few years back + QoL updates). Discord is too live focused and isn't threaded enough for my liking, Lemmy is too complicated / too high of a learning curve (seems like there another layer for instances or something on top of topic based threading). Older reddit clones are filled with rascists and such.
Yes, it honestly deserves a lot of praises. I've been able to join in just a few minutes by commenting on the tildes subreddit, and I bet there's a ton of people coming straight from reddit after...

I wholeheartedly agree. I was lucky enough to get an invite early yesterday before the huge influx of new users and have really enjoyed Tildes so far. I like the UI and the whole experience far better than Lemmy (which seems like a majority of redditors are gravitating towards). Plus, the fediverse stuff overwhelms and confuses me, so it’s cool to have a new community that doesn’t have that stuff right up front and in your face.
Hoping to stay here for a long time. I’m excited about the potential and the prospects for having awesome discussions with cool people!

I think quite a few are going over to Squabble. I checked it out last night and the developer (another 1 man team) has taken A LOT of requests/suggestions from people leaving Reddit that have made it very similar. I read it’s supposed to be a Reddit/Twitter mix, so maybe that’ll change once the dev gets some time.

Years ago I went to Hubski, but it never caught on for some reason.

I am legitimately sad about losing RIF.. I hope talklittle will succeed in anything they do next. Thanks for sharing the link.
First thing I did was donate. Just finding people who are willing to treat each other as human. The Well is great, but not cheap, and so serious.
I'm really digging the UI of the site. It's basically the perfect minimalist website design.

From what I remember, it's actually a lot like what reddit was near the beginning. Will be interesting to see its evolution over time.

I never used new reddit and honestly the first I'd heard of 3d party apps was the brouhaha.

So thanks for for making it! I'm glad to be here!

Im selfishly hope that most redditors DO go to Lemmy. This place just wouldnt the same if 250,000 redditors came swarming over.

Yes, totally a valid point!
