What did you do this week (and weekend)?

As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!

Had to submit an application for something this week. It had to be done online, but their online application portal was beyond terrible. Spent Monday compiling all the documents and entering all the information, then Tuesday I submitted it but had to re-enter half of it because the online portal didn't save the progress, then Wednesday I get an email saying "thanks for your application, now can you please fill out this other paperwork so we can file it in our office for our records". And wouldn't you know it, 90% of the information they needed on this new packet was the same stuff I had already entered into their online portal.

Why do places do this? This was an official government agency too. Seems like the shift to an 'easier' online portal just ended up making things way more complicated for both me and them.

Had to email an ex colleague who I absolutely despise, due to being in a rather specific field. She made my life an absolute misery at my previous workplace, to the point that all communication was written where possible and had our manager cc'd in. She wants to have an online meeting next week and frankly I'd rather boil my own head, so I've asked the head of a related department at my current place to be present when it happens. I know the advice is to "kill them with kindness" but at this point I truly cannot bring myself to be kind. Professionalism and civility is free though, I'll grit my teeth for 30 minutes and get it done.

Made tomato soup, bread and butter from scratch for my grandparents. The butter is something I want to explore further - it's fine but I think it can be a lot better. I want to get hold of some raw Jersey cream and mesophilic culture to really amp up the flavour and I'll also add a little more salt next time. I also took my pup on some nice long walks despite the poor weather and got to spend some quality time with my other half, so it's been mountains and valleys as it often is!

We had a nice warm period during the Winter. Went on some walks in the park, slept in, cocktails on a patio with swings and sunshine, and a nice meal. Now time for a cozy afternoon and evening inside, with a movie.

Have a good remainder of your weekend, Tildes!
