Pets!

I can't be the only person on here who is a slave to pets living in her home. Do you have/ wish to have a pet, and if so, what kind? What are they like? Any photos to share?

I'll start: we have a cat named Imoen, she's been the undisputed reigning monarch of this household for five years now. She is a void cat and is extremely fluffy. The first year with her was quite something but she grew up to be a really well-behaved cat, other than the fact that she wants to eat all of my potted plants.

We also adopted a dog called Cookie two months ago, who is a lab/dachshund mix (we think). Her hobbies include sleeping and eating random trash she finds on the street. She is still unsure of new situations, and will bark at other dogs, but we're working on it. She's a sweet girl.

Thanks! Cookie likes to believe she's tough but she isn't really. She is the sweetest dog and has zero aggression in her, and will cower sometimes when a bus passes by.

I have 3 Siamese cats, only had 2 then my in-laws had to move and could take their cat so we took her in too.

They are great, all three are cuddly and soft and like to sit on my lap, no photos to share at this very second but I can edit some in after I get out of bed. These animals need food.

I feel you, three hungry cats in the morning must be very persuasive :) We solved this problem by putting our cat's kibble into one of those puzzle feeders, so she can get food out of it anytime...

I feel you, three hungry cats in the morning must be very persuasive :) We solved this problem by putting our cat's kibble into one of those puzzle feeders, so she can get food out of it anytime she wants. It's just enough of a bother for her that she only eats out of it when she's hungry, and we refill it during the day so she doesn't wake us up in the morning. (She will still come for cuddles when she hears the alarm clock go off though!)

I have a Frenchies named Mr. Debs. He’s a spoiled little guy. I know people think all Frenchies are deformed and unhealthy, but Mr. Debs is not. Since we live in Hawaii (which has no rabies) a lot of people get dogs from Australia. That’s where Mr. Debs’ ancestors are from. He can hike for 15 miles and we even taught him how to swim. Not only is he great in the outdoors, he’s an awesome office dog. My work is dog friendly so he joins me a couple times a week.

    Of course I have pics!

Here’s Mr. Debs at the beach with his pig buddy Hamlet:

Mr. Debs’ mom’s people are obsessed with their dogs. We have to stay in touch with them and send regular pics. They even throw birthday parties for every litter they’ve ever had. Here’s Mr. Debs’ first birthday party (he’s the one with the bow tie):

The two hedgehog are the consequence of a period of time in which we had a newborn and he was kinda allergic to fur. So we had to have pets without fur... the first two years everyone was loving these two rats with spikes with lovely small muzzle, then the kid grew enough to not be at risk for this slight allergic reaction and the chiuahuah has been bought.

I love all of them dearly but right now I'm the only one that still get around the two hedgehogs, feed them and play a while every other day.
I tried to have the kids interact with them but it's hard as they're kinda shy animals that get scared easily and do not really interact a lot with humans.

Sometimes my wife ask me to buy some new weird pet but I learned my lesson. No more pets until the ones we have pass to a better life.

Aw, poor little hedgehogs. Don't feel too bad about it though - if they have food and water and adequate shelter, they are probably just fine, and don't feel neglected or lonely. It's always tricky buying a pet for children, as the responsibility is often more than they're ready for. I used to have a pet rabbit during my teenage years, and I loved it but it was not very affectionate and I didn't know how to interact with it.

Yeah, they are kind of "leave me alone I'll be fine"pet when it comes to company. I'm more annoyed by my partner behaviour to be honest.
