What did you do this week?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their week. Did you accomplish any goals? Suffer a failure? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I spun my wheels, being not as effective at everything as I could have been.
Edit for some real answers:
At least I'm vaccinated.
Had the lamest existential crisis about which Linux distribution I should use. I found Debian wasn't quite cutting it, but drank too much anti-Ubuntu kool-aid over the past decade, and set to doing a ton of research on a lot of the claims, history, and drama I'd been exposed to, because I realized I didn't actually have my own opinion about a lot of it. This isn't the first time, I had to do something similar with GNOME, where I determined I don't like the feel of it, but but that's my call. I'm now in the process of converting all of my Linux installs to Kubuntu from Debian+XFCE, with the 6mo release on my desktop and LTS on my laptops. I also sort of like having Snaps handy at install for the handful of apps I use (Bitwarden, Spotify, Joplin, Discord), even if flatpak is trivial to set up.
Aside from that, I've been not studying for my finals next week because I haven't been sleeping right, but aim to make up for 8t starting today.
I spent way to much time procrastinating on a work project that ended up taking me a grand total of 30 minutes of coding time. I had built the problem up in my head as something that was going to take days of work. I've only got about two more weeks on this project then it's on to something completely different.
Had to purchase (order? hire?) a new HVAC system so I have 0 dollars and many cool airs. Or at least I will once the work is done on Wednesday.
Job search, job search, job search.
Although this week was technically more productive as there were half a dozen first round interviews.
Oh, and bought some raw materials for the Tercel's crossmember drop.
Yesterday I got two teeth ripped out of my skull. The opiates I was prescribed were not strong enough for that day, but I feel OK with OTC medications today. I am even more convinced that the people who decided to mix Tylenol with opiates to “prevent abuse” are just plain evil.
