What’s something you’re trying to be better about?

Big or small, significant or insignificant, meaningful or mundane — what are you trying to be better about, and why?

As an honorary ASD (strong suspicion, no diagnostic), the field of social interactions is always hard for me. I obviously have (tons of...) emotions, but they are processed very very differently than the norm, and most important, expressed in a very distinct way as well. When something serious or traumatic happens, I usually demonstrate no emotion at the time. Later on, the emotions will eventually come, but, when people expect me to react "like a human being", I simply don't.

On one hand, this is not really my fault, people should understand that everyone processes emotions at a different pace. On the other, I could certainly make more effort to understand and empathize with those that are not like me. It is easy for "normies" to think I'm a robot, but, at the same time, I often think "regular people" are emotionally decompensated or downright crazy. And that is not good at all.

So I'm in a constant effort to accept and understand the fact that people regulate their emotions in ways other than my own. I should not judge them. Additionally, I should probably learn better ways to be more empathic and comforting without merely emulating behaviors that do not represent who I actually am.

Letting go or focusing my efforts towards something productive rather than destructive/self-consuming/over-thinking downward-spiral.
