This may be somewhat off topic, but when did video conferencing become VoIP? I understand that the term has become fairly generic, but this is the first time I've ever seen it being referenced to something that can't wire into a basic landline telephone.
I have only heard them called Voice Chat or some variation like Group Chat. My experience with VoIP has basically only been in business applications or home 'internet phone' services like vonage.

This is pretty cool because if I'm reading it correctly it's basically just an extension of the spec to send a stream instead of a picture

Huh? Mumble/Ventrillo/Discord/in-game-VC have all been called VoIP for decades as far as I'm aware.
