Good web dev communities?
Hey folks.
May someone recommend a good web dev community out there for quality discussions?
Right now I'm using Vue for a project and I'm wrestling with architectural decisions. I'd love for a place where I can discuss different approaches' trade-offs and merits.
Many thanks. :)
I don’t have a recommendation in mind, but I can give you some (perhaps obvious) generic advice:
Most open source projects have a community page that lists the places where discussions often happen for that project. So that’s where I’d start. On the Vue.js website, there’s an “Ecosystem” menu with entries for a forum and a Discord chat, so that seems worth checking out.
Also, there’s often a Reddit forum. Looks like r/vuejs is active?
I think I'll give the Vue forum a shot and see. Maybe there's something to the traditional forum format that encourages slow conversation.
I've tried the Discord and Reddit but they have the problem where there's a firehose of people asking for technical help that overwhelms the more philosophical conversations. Which, don't get me wrong, can be useful — I ask a few questions and try to answer some.
Not a js person so I can’t speak to its quality but there is a #vuejs channel on libera with 56 nicks in it as of the time of this posting.
Thanks. That sounds like a good-sized community. :)
