The description to this video is pure gold: "Dozens of variables" had me laughing out loud.

The description to this video is pure gold:

Human beings, with their ridiculous "emotions" and their limited processing power, are fundamentally ill-equipped for a task as complex as finding a romantic partner. Only a mighty computer - like the Honeywell 200 - with its infallible logic and ability to cope with dozens of variables, is up to the job.

"Dozens of variables" had me laughing out loud.

Definitely a product of its time.

Dislikes: affected people, birth control, foreigners, free love, homosexuals, interracial marriage, pseudo-intellectuals, rock and roll, socialism. Select four only.

Definitely a product of its time.

What are "affected people"? And why would I need to specifically state that I don't wanna date LGBT? Wouldn't stating that I'm heterosexual do the job in a less disgusting way?

An affected person is someone who's putting on an act, over-exaggerating their characteristics for dramatic effect: "having or showing an attitude or mode of behavior that is not natural or genuinely felt"

And why would I need to specifically state that I don't wanna date LGBT?

The question isn't about who you want to date. It's about things you don't like. "Here's a list of things that people often dislike. Pick four that you dislike most."

I presume the idea was to match you with other people with similar dislikes, or to not match you with people who like the things you dislike.

I’m guessing disabled people. And that’s more of a compatibility filter for homophobes seeking homophobes.

Yeah... Being LGBT was literally classified as a disease back then so it would make sense for them to follow the medical consensus and group it with actual disabilities.
