I've been a longtime 1Password user and have been eagerly awaiting their passkey support since they announced it. Today is the day they are rolling out passkeys in their public beta channels. So far, it is available in their browser extensions and Windows & Mac apps. I have not seen it come out in their iOS Test Flight app, so maybe later today for that one.

So far I've only set up the passkey on my Google Account and it has been working fine. I have read other users are running into a few issues with it not working properly but that is to be expected with a beta release. Pretty excited for this to become the new norm instead of passwords. Will be interested to see how quickly other people start to enable passkey support for logins.

How are you all feeling about passkeys? Anyone else using 1Password for their passkeys here? If so, what has your experience been so far with them?

As I understand it, it functions essentially like a keypair like you might use for ssh auth. This is a long time coming, as this kind of authentication has been in use for decades in other spaces.

I tried to run the demo listed in the app in FireFox, but it did not work. It did work with Chrome on my macbook with TouchID, and I was able to authenticate. It was a pretty intuitive workflow. I did not attempt to use 1Password, since I don't know that I want to be on the prerelease and I don't know how easily I could downgrade.
