Interesting Matrix spaces?
To be clear, Matrix as in the communication protocol. Curious if anyone has any recommendations for communities there. Personally I am mostly in the NixOS space, since that is the official chat for issues and questions.
python and distrotube both have pretty good spaces. there's a vegan space, too.
edit:
you know what, i actually have a novel use for matrix: i have a private space i called "Checklists+" and in it i have a clipboard channel for moving text and files around, a ToDo channel and a Shopping channel. in the last two, i use emoji reactions to indicate status of items (hourglass for an item that i should have had done before now, or checkmarks for completed items, etc)
I actually do something similar with a private IRC server, and use a bot I've written to act as a sort of assistant. It's kind of janky but it works well enough for my use case. Do you self host matrix? I got a dendrite instance up once but I didn't love any clients, so I stuck with good old IRC.
i use the mozilla matrix server.
I self host a synapse server, and use it with Element on iOS. Element has had some annoying bugs, but they’re slowly being worked out.
I'm the creator and (one of the) admins/mods of #cyber-space:matrix.org, though I took a big step back a couple years ago because moderation screwed with my mental health.
Join the off topic and say hi!
I wanted to drop in, but I'm not sure that room is actually public.
Oh very much so, #cybersec-offtopic:matrix.org
Oh, great! Thanks for clarifying.
I have a server at work using Element both in iOS and MacOS. I love it.
Happy to crush in a nice and friendly chat
