It's a losing war. The more enshitification of streaming services, the more piracy will crop up.

With "hacked" Fire Sticks (customised Tivimate, Kodi, StreamIO, etc) with IPTV private links, a Real Debrid and a cheap VPN being the absolute norm these days, the average Joe now has simple and easy ways to pirate. However, this piracy isn't like it was where they could track your torrents and come after you via ISP for content you have on your computer. The content is like YouTube and Netflix, it exists momentarily while you watch, there aren't any files left when you have finished viewing.

The game is curbing how these IPTV services are advertised, URL de-indexing isn't going to solve it. They need other ways to stop it. I have always sailed the seas, I always will. I even work in the TV industry, it's dying. It's not piracy killing it though, it's greed.

It's hard to believe it's greed causing piracy if you proudly declare that you will always pirate regardless. If you said it was a service problem, or a price problem, or some combination of the two, and that you wouldn't pirate if those were solved, then it would sound like it's an industry greed issue.

I pirate because of too many subscription services. I stopped during the early Netflix years. My pirated content was VHS and DVDs that I had once owned and sent to charity, mixed with movies I'd paid to see in the cinema or TV shows that have been on and I've seen. I'm a believer of "pay once". Yes, I have some other content that hasn't aired but it will.

I still have Netflix, Amazon and I pay my TV license (UK). I refuse to pay for every TV service and platform on the planet to see a show/movie that jumps around from place to place based on licensing and royalties. It's too much.

I don't pirate games. I pay for PS Plus. I write code for others in my free time, or support people. I am just against how greedy the corporate lot have gotten. Ethically, at least in my mind, I give what I'm willing to pay.

You and I think about this very similarly then. I particularly like "I give what I'm willing to pay". I think that about sums up my decision making when I choose to pirate or pay.

You know what's a more important thing for google to work on? Search results that scam and victimize the user. I've been reading about google search results where the top result for customer service questions is a scam/phishing site.
