Somewhere out there, someone wrote a really good blog post today. You'll probably never find it. Google won't show it to you. Social media buried it under engagement bait.
Bubbles tries to surface it. Community voting applied to thousands of personal, independent blogs, with identity and discussion routed through the Fediverse. I don't really use social media outside message boards, so that Fediverse-based account system is a no-go for me. But I've otherwise enjoyed the posts that it surfaces, the couple times I've checked.
Tildes with curated list of blogs would seem even better. Without corporate media and without Fediverse-based account. I wish they haven't used Fediverse in bubbles.town. [edit] rephrasing

Powrss and Minifeed has a bunch of curated blogs and sites in their index, and provide overviews and most recent posts across the board.
Bearroll only tracks posts from Bear Blog blogs and is based on upvotes, but with an easier timeline overview that surfaces a bit more than the regular trending discover page.
And of course Kagi Smallweb for a random roulette style across thousands of blogs and websites.
I was surprised to see my blog is already listed there. I haven’t noticed any uptick in traffic, but I also am not very militant about checking traffic either. I’ll check this out. Thanks!

I like the idea, but skimming through some of the top posts... the quality really isn't there. Hot takes, glorified tweets, "i had a one-off bad interaction", platitudes stretched out to posts,...

I get that these are small personal blogs (I wrote my own many years ago) and quality spans the spectrum, but I don't get the impression that bubbles.town is really helping to surface good ones.
I've been enjoying visiting Bubbles occasionally to read some blog posts. I like it as an aggregator of "the small web" in a way since a lot of posts that bubble up are from that world. As a daily...
I've been enjoying visiting Bubbles occasionally to read some blog posts. I like it as an aggregator of "the small web" in a way since a lot of posts that bubble up are from that world.
As a daily mastodon user the fediverse aspect I don't mind at all, it's easy to ignore anyway, though I don't think it's necessary (I don't even really think them having comments at all is necessary).
I just use the site as a way to see some personal blog posts about interesting topics, I don't really bother with the social aspect.
I've been enjoying their daily digest. Although some themes that I personally don't care about pops up a lot (internal blogging drama, mostly), I often find some good blog posts and/or blogs.
