I've tried to use Gadgetbridge in the past with my Pebble watches and found it far too buggy and limited to actually use. The author seems to partially acknowledge this as well, noting the missing features, flakey device connection, no way to add additional watch faces, but waves it away as just not supported yet on their device.
The mentality of "buy based on supported features, not promised features" needs to apply not just to commercial software but to FOSS software too. Not reliably delivering notifications from my phone to the watch isn't just a limitation but is a fundamental flaw in the product.
Author here! Don’t get me wrong, I’d use Gadgetbridge as it’s right now. I don’t mind all the things missing; just wrote about them to pass a full picture. The stuff I care the most about, this...

I'm pretty sure something about the Garmin app is glitching the notifications on my android, so I am keen to give this a try.
At least there's a way to use a fitness watch/band without its app phoning home all the time. I tested Gadgetbridge with a Huawei Band 11 and it was surprisingly good!

It works pretty flawlessly with the two Garmin watches I've tried it with.
It's not just for watches! I use it to check the battery of my Nothing earbuds without having to use their app
Oh, that's awesome! I wasn't aware.

Lowkey was hoping to see a reason to revive my old Moto360 but it doesn't seem to support it.
