no, surprisingly it was quite easy. There is a deactivate account button right on one of the settings pages.

I deleted my account after obscuring as much of my personal information on the account that I could, feels great to be done with them! Thanks for your recommendation, I will check it out!

watching enough ads to generate enough ad revenue to pay for a ride in an uber sounds like a minor subplot in a dystopian hellscape sci-fi movie.

But it seems now eBay allows you to use a credit card directly on the site, and most other online stores if they accept PayPal payments, they also accept credit cards directly. Maybe its safe to say I can delete my PayPal account and not look back? It seems like an unnecessary middle man.

I got one of the nano yubikeys that I keep in a usb port on my laptop full time, and that has been great. Then I have a 3rd one in safe keeping in case I lose both of my primary ones.

yes this is true, and it is what I am currently doing, but just being able to use the key as U2F would be so much more convenient

I am wondering if this could be implemented as a 2FA method on Tildes. Although not super mainstream, I think it is the gold standard for account security. Is there anyone else interested in this...

That sucks. I wish there were more competitors to Chrome. Firefox has been an outstanding browser for so long. As an ex-employee, do you think it will survive much longer?

There are already far better alternatives to Proof of Work blockchains, so I am not advocating for Tesla to accept Dogecoin, it just seems inevitable at this point.

Are you opposed to cryptocurrencies that have actual utility aren't super resource intensive? Nano.org is a project I've been following for years. It hasn't gained the traction I expected, but it's very grassroots and probably could work as a sustainable currency. I hate what bitcoin has become, but unfortunately there appears to be no stopping it and the resources it consumes.
