I think they're still misinformation and not exempt from the term just because they don't care about the truth. But I also think this is really just confirmation of what I've seen for myself. Thankfully the algorithm doesn't expose me to much of this (and not being on X helps) but it feeds a lot of hatred here. Sigh sure great glad Facebook is paying them for it.
