I used to use ccleaner for deleting temp files, but stopped using it after they started bundling toolbars and running in the background all the time. Now I recommend https://www.bleachbit.org/...

I found that while searching for a program like CCleaner for Linux, it's pretty good but I had to add a custom config file for some of the alternative browsers I have.

Avast has been getting steadily shadier. It's what I used to use for personal Windows VMs, but default data collection and pop-up advertising for their VPN product are infuriating in an AV I paid for.

The vendors claim it's because they're designed to be difficult for malware to remove or disable. If you've ever had to manually hunt down and remove Windows Registry entries for, let's say, Symantec, you'll know that's b.s. covering up sloppy programming.

Now I recommend https://www.bleachbit.org/ instead.
Never heard of Bleachbit before, thanks for the recommendation!
Their marketing seems to be on point too, wow.
Thanks for the rec. I just switched. <3
Awesome thanks for this.

I'm currently 99% Windows free just because of this and similar bullshit.
I flatly refuse to use Windows at home because of this bullshit.
someday unix-based operating systems will be the standard, someday
It's still on one of my partitions just because of music software i use sometimes.
Little update, as of today, i'm 100% windows free. God bless Bitwig!

Yeah I kind of get that, don't know about others needing it as well. Been using just the windows 10 antivirus so far it seems pretty good.
