In my opinion, this is a rather large deal. This isn't simply a PR skirmish, Spotify filed an anti-trust complaint to the European Commission about what they consider unfair play on Apple's part....

Apple has long been a "closed ecosystem" in terms of OS integration with competing products as opposed to their own (especially in iOS).
Apple's blog post is just very good at deflecting the problem and casting blame at Spotify without addressing their claims. It's a good PR bullshit post, but nothing else really.

This reads like a childish rant on some developers blog and not an official statement. The fact is Apple has a monopoly and they abuse that. They say spotify is benefiting from the payment...
This reads like a childish rant on some developers blog and not an official statement. The fact is Apple has a monopoly and they abuse that. They say spotify is benefiting from the payment features that apple provides but apple specifically bans apps from using their own payment system or telling the user to pay via the website. So apps have literally no choice but to pay apples 30%.
Someone accused of being an abuser of their market position claims they are not abusing their market position. I think we should just wait until the EU investigation finds something on that topic.

Here is the original Spotify blog that Apple's blog is responding to: Consumers and Innovators Win on a Level Playing Field
