It has its pros and cons. I'm a Cleveland kid moved to the New England area. From a governmental standpoint I love the New England area, and don't get me wrong I love it here. That said, there are definitely aspects of the midwest that I miss regularly that have made me think about moving home (I won't, but I have considered it which is more than I thought I'd ever do).
I need to move my ass to the northeast. They're doing everything I wish the midwest would. Shame it costs a billion dollars to live there.
Maine is relatively cheap for the most part. Although you don't want to live there in the winter.
