If a browser's default zoom is limited to 100%, then my evaluation of the browser is limited to bovine excrementbarely usable.

Firefox has an open ticketing system, you can ask them to add the feature you desire. Totally possible that such a niche use case did not come up before.
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=332275 Opened on March 30, 2006 (also, BOOOOOOO on that site for using PST). Back in 2006, the display I used was something like 800×600, and the 100%...

Isn't that the entire point of extensions? To extend functionality so that every conceivable thing doesn't have to be included in the browser/editor/whatever for every person who will never use it?

Yes, but there are things that are basic, and today, the ability to set the default zoom level is one (similarly, Chrome's inability to verify closing multiple tabs is really annoying, though IIRC...

Not everyone is on a mobile. My desktop is 1920×1200, and at the 100% zoom, reading long texts (as often happens on Tildes) causes an extreme level of eye strain.
Then I'd say up the DPI/scaling for your monitor in your display settings. That's really not Firefox's domain. 100% should be comfortable. If you insist on making it a Firefox thing, you can set a...
Then I'd say up the DPI/scaling for your monitor in your display settings. That's really not Firefox's domain. 100% should be comfortable. If you insist on making it a Firefox thing, you can set a minimum allowed font size easily. Or override the advance setting layout.css.devPixelsPerPx to scale just Firefox and not any other application. This is not a common scenario, and in the closest common scenario, the sane solution is "solve it outside the browser."
A simple search is more than sufficient to show that NOT having a default zoom setting in Firefox IS an issue (I would not have raised it if it were just MY issue). Today, 100% is simply NOT...
This is not a common scenario
A simple search is more than sufficient to show that NOT having a default zoom setting in Firefox IS an issue (I would not have raised it if it were just MY issue). Today, 100% is simply NOT comfortable for many users (older than 30 years or so) for text-intensive content on modern desktops.
And the advance setting (1) is advanced as opposed to the basic settings other browsers have and (2) has ugly effects (devPixelsPerPx is just not the same as default zoom on desktops).
Then, again, all I can do is point you to the DPI settings. What you're complaining about is universal across all apps, and has a solution that solves all apps. No reason for each individual one...
Then, again, all I can do is point you to the DPI settings. What you're complaining about is universal across all apps, and has a solution that solves all apps. No reason for each individual one to reinvent the wheel. Firefox's default text sizing is not smaller than any other application's body text, so solving it only for Firefox and leaving the rest of the desktop illegible would be a strange thing. Multiple solutions exist in and outside of Firefox without touching the advanced settings and without diving into extensions. You haven't explained at all why these go-to solutions aren't good for you, so I really can't offer you anything else but what I already have.
I hope this release finally fixes video playback. I'm sure it's something with my hardware configuration, but youtube, webm, and all sorts of things get choppy as hell sometimes.

Posting "nice" on something with "69" in it is one of the least interesting or clever things you can possibly do, but people insist on doing it everywhere for some reason.
Also, this amazing tweet!
Funniest release since 4.20

Back in 2006, the display I used was something like 800×600, and the 100% zoom was not a problem for me then, BTW.
You can add your voice to show that the feature is more widely desired, then.

I see you have a new account. Please understand that Tildes is not for meme replies, or other "fluffy" content. Please try to keep it on topic.
Is that what the removed comment was?
Yes.
IIRC, yes.
