As a kid, we were always taught that anything uploaded to the internet lasts forever. After having seen so many services and websites I grew up with disappearing or radically changing, I'm not sure I believe that anymore.
Well, The Internet Archive is certainly trying their best, but it's a gargantuan task and IMO they need our support. Which is why they are one of the three organizations I have recurring donations...
p.s. For those interested, I have found Charity Navigator to be an invaluable resource when determining which Charities to donate to. E.g. Their DWB US page gives it an Overall Score of 94.74/100. Sadly, they don't generally do non-profits though AFAIK.
Well, just because yahoo take the service down, doesn't mean they are deleting the data. Who knows where that is going to end up. It's more cautionary as, even though it technically is possible...

It's more cautionary as, even though it technically is possible for things to be removed, it is also rather trivial to keep data around forever in one way or another.

This needs to amended as "Anything uploaded to the internet may last forever, but you can't rely on it."
