Thoughts on something like a ~space group?

I spend quite a bit of time on the NASA Spaceflight forums and r/spacex and r/space on Reddit, and I was wondering if anyone would be in favor of creating a ~space group or something similar here.

As things stand now, I feel like ~science would be the most appropriate place for talk about space, space tech, and rocketry, but the general feeling of that group seems to be multidisciplinary science discussion and news, rather than the cross of news, science, engineering (and a bit of nearly-corporate-espionage if it's r/spacex...) that one usually finds in a discussion/forum about space and rocketry.

Would the creation of such a group be something others would like to consider? Do you have other thoughts on the matter?

You can find in the documentation (here) that as the base communities grow, there will be "sub-tildes" that will be more specialized. I don't know where the post is now, but one of the admins went into more depth about how this would look in another post.

I figured that would be one of the more likely options; my main concern about the idea of the space group being a "sub-tilde" was mostly that its purpose, based on what's currently in ~science, would be more to discuss space news like supernovas, probes, and the like, rather than the joint discussion of engineering and space that I was thinking of with the other forums, expecially NSF and r/spacex that I mentioned. I guess a "sub-sub-tilde" of "~science.space.rocketry" could work...

I'll see if I can find the admin post about it and also reread the docs to get a better idea of the possibilities.

It may very well be that we just need another top-level one. That's not necessarily something to be afraid of, but if it fits cleanly into a more general category of some sort that's good too.

Another direction it could go would be to have both a ~science.space and a ~tech.space, the former being for supernovas, probes, ect and the latter being for SpaceX or rocketry development. This...

Another direction it could go would be to have both a ~science.space and a ~tech.space, the former being for supernovas, probes, ect and the latter being for SpaceX or rocketry development. This could be overspecialization tho and maybe it would be a better idea to have a ~space that would have its own specializations.

I've been trying to stop thinking of ~'s as subreddits and more as something with a similarity that don't have to be direct replacements, so maybe it wouldn't be a bad thing to have fairly specific sub~'s.

That makes sense, and I think at least initially while we're still small, just using "space" tags inside both ~science and ~tech probably makes the most sense (with the potential to be sub-groups eventually). I'm trying to avoid splitting into too many groups too quickly, so that seems like a good approach for now.
