Can someone explain how the trust system is going to work?

Tags: trust

I keep hearing about it but I'm not sure how it's going to be implemented.

I don't trust you enough to tell you.

I'm curious to see if there will be a way to visually distinguish "trusted" users in a thread from newer, untested users or if it will all be blind.

Ah, true, it could feed into a power-user issue. Maybe only showing up in the moderation log? Also, I think there is the idea that moderation can be automated and that any "moderation actions"...

Also, I think there is the idea that moderation can be automated and that any "moderation actions" become decoupled from individual users. Then there may not need to be any display of who's trusted and who's not, and only The Algorithm would know

Still you would still be able to tell trusted users apart just from the way they interact with the community. They'll have to be an active member of the community, so there's a good chance their name will already be known. On top of that, they'll probably lead meta discussions, organize events/mega threads/whatever else the specific tilde does.

I think it's unavoidable that trusted users will be recognizable, but I don't see that as a problem. As long as the "trust score" itself isn't visible (it would just become Reddit karma 2.0 otherwise) I'm okay with that. That's part of community interactions.
