Concerning Invite Codes
I have 5 of those in my sidebar, but I don't know anybody who might want to join Tildes.
Assuming invite codes are finite tickets into the platform, is there a way to put them back in the invite codes pool?
Is there a way to do it without the invitations being linked to my profile, considering that I won't be the one choosing the recipients of the invite codes? Or do I just ignore the codes?
Also like to add that if there was no invite system and rather it was open from beginning it would become like voat
You can ignore them, everyone gets five, nobody would get your invite codes.
I don't believe it is. Since everyone does gets five invite codes, whenever someone is invited, if they too get five invite codes, the invites are pretty much infinite.
You don't automatically get invite codes when you sign up. Deimos just changes the number of codes available to all current users when he feels like it. A couple of weeks ago, he revised it to 5 codes for all existing users. I believe there were similar revisions prior to that (but I wasn't here to see them, so I don't know for sure).
Thanks everyone for the answers.
I have a couple friends that might be interested, but I don't see my codes.... Unless I'm looking in the completely wrong place.
You joined today so don’t have any yet. @deimos gives all the existing users invites to give out every week or so. It will be mentioned in the daily discussion when he does.
Perfect, thanks!
Deimos gives them out periodically, so if you're new you'll get them on the next wave. They'll show up in your user page under 'invite someone'.
Awesome, thanks!
Looks like you just joined today? Invite codes are given out periodically. If you'd like some, see about asking @Deimos.
I see. Yea, I joined late last night, but really enjoying the community so far and I have friends that I've talked to about it and they seemed interested.
Just mention them whenever someone mentions tildes in a reddit thread and prepare to get deluged by PMs.
