Imo, the long scrolling sessions will be to a large part rectified once we can collapse comments via the bars on the side and minimized branches are remembered between reloads.

pretty bad design honestly, I had to search for a while to find it myself. Maybe it makes you read a few extra comments if they’re short enough, but most of the time people will just scroll as...
pretty bad design honestly, I had to search for a while to find it myself. Maybe it makes you read a few extra comments if they’re short enough, but most of the time people will just scroll as fast as they can to get to the bottom. Also, if the site ever plans on being as big as Reddit, do they expect people to scroll through thousands of comments to make one? It will probably be fixed though, it’s still in alpha
edit: I’m open to the idea since it seems like an intentional design choice instead of an oversight like I initially thought, though I’m not sure how successful it will be in practice
I guess that’s a fair point, at the very least it makes it unique from the other platforms out there. This is my first time on the site so I’m not sure how practical it is long term but since it...

If you check a topic early on, there won't be lots of comments and so the box to create a root level comment won't be that far down. And you should still give at least a skim read to the other comments to see if someone else already said what you want to write down.
If a topic has plenty of comments, the chance that what you want to say has been already said raise quite significantly. So again, reading what others have said is the way to go.
Tildes as a whole follow the golden rule of "listen before talking" and this design decision is a direct consequence of it.
The comment box is at the bottom of the page, after all other comments.
Thanks. Was not expecting that.

If a post has thousands of comments, posting a new top-level one is almost always totally pointless anyway. It's very unlikely anyone will read it.

Should look like this: https://i.imgur.com/vlZaV28.png
I saw that when I created the post but I wasn't expecting it to be at the bottom of the comments for existing posts.
Ah, I see what you mean now haha
