Why is the repository on GitLab instead of GitHub?

Tags: ask, help

Is there a difference between GitLab and GitHub? I personally find GitHub easier to use. Is there a specific reason?

I'll add a search box that just sends a private message to @Kat.

GitLab is the official location, but I can still deal with things on the GitHub mirror and just move them across when needed.

There are a few reasons, but overall, I like GitLab as a company better than GitHub and think their ideals align more with Tildes's.

Redox another project I'm following closely is also on GitLab but they are self-hosted. The only downside is that you must create another account to contribute.
