On the flip side matrix supports what they call "bridges", i.e. bots that allow you to interact with other platforms. You still need an account on the other platform and give the bridge access to it to send messages on your behalf (all the big ones are open source and self hosted though so I don't see an issue there).

Overall it looks like a great solution to consolidate many different messengers into one place.

Hotspot sharing doesn't work across my 6T and iPhone, it looks like iOS hotspots are again some kind of proprietary crap.

Make sure you have the "Personal Hotspot" page open in settings (next to having the toggle switch enabled). The hotspot is broadcasted to non-iDevices only when you also have the settings page open.

I assume it's because the device can't be connected to a WiFi hotspot and broadcast one at the same time. Of course between each other iDevices get around this by probably doing some proprietary BLE broadcasts.

Considering that the world height was expanded into the negative instead of just shifting everything 64 blocks upwards I'll claim that the way the upgrade will work is that old chunk will keep their Y=0 Bedrock layer while new chunks will be generated according to the new world generation.

I'm curious however how the interaction between old and new chunks will play out. Will we be able to fly under the bedrock of old chunks by digging down and over from new chunks?

Also curious which effects this will have on the Nether. Will the bedrock layer also be lowered or stay the same like when the build height was doubled in 1.2.

Personally I use Nextcloud. After failing to manage to set it up a few times I found out that the easiest way to set it up is to use Ubuntu server and install the Nextcloud Snap after set up. (It should show up as a recommended Snap after the setup process.)

On my phone I use the respective Nextcloud App to auto-sync my pictures to my server.

The overall process is not completed free from some hidden "gotchas" so feel free to PM if you need some help.

    Concerning the back-to-too button:

Should you do decide to implement then at least make it toggable. Using iOS, I can just tab the top of the screen to achieve the same thing, so for me at least a dedicated button on the page would just add visual clutter.

And when using a desktop, I can use the home key to achieve the same thing. Personally I feel like a back-to-the-top button is something the browser should implement not the webpage.

Looking at how many sites require an account for use, a password manager is no longer an aid but an essential tool.

    Pro Wire:
    Multi-Account Support
    Independent instances for all devices
Encrypted backups as a single file
Can sign up with both phone number and email address

    Contra Signal:
    No backup option on iOS
    No group administration option

Obviously all parts of Wire are open source

My only issue with Wire is that it saves quite some meta data so it's not on the same privacy level as Signal.

Also pro accounts are solely business oriented and therefore a bit awkward to set up for private use, which is a bummer if you want multi person video calls as they are pro only.

While I'd love to agree with you Signal in its current form is just to plain and unfriendly for the average user. Add to the mix that you still can't moderate group chats and can't even backup chat on iOS, I found Wire to be the better replacement for WhatsApp and so far managed to get more people to install wire than Signal.

[I'm going to assume you are using some version of Windows.]

To get all programs to open at once you'll have to create a batch file that looks something like this:

    start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin\Origin.exe"
    start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe"
    start "" "C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\ts3client_win64.exe" Discord.exe

Basically you add a line for each application with

    start "" "<path to the .exe>"

Note that Discord is a bit of an exemption here as is it normally launches over the updater with an additional command line argument, so it looks like this:

    start "" "C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Discord\Update.exe" --processStart Discord.exe

where <user> is your Windows username. If you want to know how an application is started you can right click its shortcut and go to Properties and under directory (or something like that) it should show you the .exe's directory + argument used to call it (if there is any)

To create the Batch file you just open Notepad, add the line for your applications as described above and then select Save as and change Save as txt to all filetypes and name the file something.bat. Double clicking it should now open all the applications you added. If you want to edit it again, right click the .bat file and then select Edit.

    Hope that helped.
