Suggestion: Filter by Domain

One of the issues I had with HackerNews was that the front page was dominated by articles from major publications that imo were often written by journalists out of their depth. I think having a filter by domain feature would help users avoid certain publications that they know they won't enjoy reading.

Yeah, this is something I'd like to add eventually. We already have filtering based on tags (though the interface for it is awful), and this would be very similar to implement.

I'm definitely in favor of this sort of filtering. It's useful for seeing everything from a given domain at a glance and for blocking content from domains one has no interest in seeing. I'd like to be able to click on a domain name and see everything that's come from it as if that were a group of its own. That sort of view tends to easily expose their agendas and spamming activity. We could build other tools on top of this functionality to extend it even further in the future.

I was actually thinking the same thing and was checking if anyone else had asked about it yet. So yes, being able to filter domains (and users!) would be sweet.

This is a good idea, albeit for a third-party or "sister service". Like a browser extension, similar to the Reddit Enhancement Suite plugin. I wouldn't think Tildes needs to support it natively,...

I wouldn't think Tildes needs to support it natively, at least for years to come.

But I like the concept and want to see an option for it.

It's generally a lot better if the site itself can do things like this. RES filtering is very inefficient because it gets reddit to send an unfiltered list, then removes items client-side. If it removes a lot, it needs to keep asking reddit for more, filtering them again, asking for more again, and so on. It can save a lot of work and requests to only send the items the user is actually going to see.
