You could sorta hack it by creating a topic with one top-level comment for each option, and asking people to vote for the one they like. There's no way to keep people from voting twice, though, so...

I agree with you, I'd like to add that I think it will also reduce the quality of the answers. It's very easy to just select an option and click submit without thinking, it takes more time and thought if you have to type your answer as a reply and explain why (as we are currently doing with poll-like questions).
An option for votes to only be counted with a comment added for qualification could be used, and maybe made default. Of course, I still think there is value in having anonymous polls.

Sure, although I feel not many questions could be meaningfully turned into polls so it could end up being a 'gizmo' feature.
Polls might also not give you very meaningful results with a limited amount of users. So maybe a future feature?
