User level preference to black-list posts from domains
My question is would it be possible to have a user-level preference to not show posts which link to a certain domain?
I want to clarify, this would only affect the user (based on their preferences) and what they see on tildes.
Asking this question after seeing a bunch of posts from intlnewsdesk.org being posted here, and I am not able to find much about this site and would prefer not to provide more traffic to this site. (Seems like the user posting this signed up a day ago and pretty much has posted only articles to the above mentioned site).
Thanks! (I should start searching tilde's gitlab issues before posting here!)
Thanks for the suggestion with uBlock, adding that filter now to block that domain!
Edit: uBlock filter worked like a charm!
I sent Deimos a DM about this domain/user earlier today due to my suspicions about it. The site seems to have a dubious trail on Reddit, along with the user having an erratic posting history here on Tildes.
Thanks!
I didn't really want to complain about a user's posting habits. But at the same time I didn't want to see those posts. So felt like a feature like this might solve this well.
Glad to see this is already in the pipeline as @Bauke pointed out :)
That was just run-of-the-mill spam and I've banned that user and removed all their posts now, so you don't need to worry about this domain in particular. Having to ask for an invite keeps most spammers away, but a few of them occasionally send an email to get one.
Definitely a feature I'd like to have eventually anyway though. It would help with quite a few cases, like letting people avoid certain paywalled sites they can't access and don't want to see.
The Twitter account for newsdeskintl was created in April 2020. The website seems to be carelessly put together (there are links to the theme they used that should have been removed). From the usernames posting stories, it seems like it might be based in India?
The stories don't seem to be fake, but are copied from other sources. There are placeholders for ads in the theme but they aren't running any ads. I did see a dubious popup saying that "An update to Flash Player is available," which seems curiously inept for a malware attack.
Either they don't know what they are doing, or they are pretending they don't.
This sort of stuff wouldn't be noticed on a more high-traffic site, but we notice it here because there are so few links posted. (I have the front page set to "New" by default.)
