Feature suggestion - tildes only content
It would be nice if there was an extra box that allows you to add info that is private to the people on tildes. For example I would like to share creds to a game account, but I only want people on tildes to get that info, not the public who aren't users and just visit.
It might be fine for what you have in mind, but this feature seems tricky to have around because people might have a false impression of what Tildes users are like, based on who posts, not thinking of the people who are registered but lurk or seldom post.
It seems like most things that are not okay to publish to the Internet are also not okay to share with a shadowy collection of strangers? It’s the sort of thing that, at best, would work as a speed bump to keep distribution down, except when it doesn’t, because someone shares it elsewhere.
I really don't think there is a huge gap between the types of folks with Tildes accounts, and folks who browse Tildes while not logged in. It's the same crowd, with which you should exercise similar levels trust. If you wouldn't trust a regular logged off Tildes user with the content, you probably also shouldn't trust a logged in user.
Private messages are a better fit for this, in my opinion. I'd take a guess that you're concerned about someone abusing the credentials - but Tildes has over twelve thousand people registered!
I'm also not a huge fan of the idea of site-exclusive content. I browsed Tildes for a while before joining, and locked-off posts would have dissuaded me from signing up. This would also make it difficult for the Wayback Machine and other crawlers to work well.
I wonder if this would be more useful if it were possible to make it only viewable with people of a certain trust level in that community so it wouldn't even be available to all Tildes users.
The only problem remains that anyone could still share it and that the group of users with the level of trust remains relatively unknown to the poster.
