Power to the people. This and the ongoing WGA/SAG-AFTRA strike are heartening to see. The workers make all of these businesses not only possible but wildly profitable. It's unacceptable that the people at the top siphon up the wealth created by the workers, let alone the audacity to threaten their livelihoods.

Software engineering and related fields (product management, etc.) need to unionize. Offshoring and AI are a big threat, but unethical software that does active harm in the world needs to be reigned in. The pursuit of profit at all costs is perpetrated by a handful of ultra wealthy business leaders who would have no product without the workers, we need to leverage that power to enact change.

    Solidarity with the workers, always.

UPS (NYSE: UPS) has 3,300 pilots who are represented by the Independent Pilots Association (IPA), a separate union from the Teamsters.

“If the Teamsters are on strike, we will honor that strike and we will not fly,” IPA spokesman Brian Gaudet told FreightWaves.

Good for them (and I'm not being sarcastic, I do very much approve).

Right? I'm incredibly heartened by this new visible wave of cross-union support in the USA.

I wore brown for 10 years. I left because the pay and benefits, while excellent and industry-leading, weren’t worth the mentally and physically grueling work. Now I make half what I used to but I sit in an air conditioned office and work feels…normal again. I work 7-3 and I actually have some energy left over to enjoy life. I come home and enjoy the daylight left, not covered in sweat and grime, and I feel a weight lifted from me even though I miss the money, 4 1/2 weeks of PTO, and absolutely insane healthcare.

I’d trade it all away all over again. The workers absolutely deserve whatever they can get from the company and more for the work they do and how much of themselves they have to give to do it.

Don’t forget the hub workers. We all start there, they actually make shit pay and most people don’t last a week doing the work.

And the amazon workers do twice the work for half the pay/benefits/training. Capitalism sucks.

I hope they can come together like UPS too. They're some of the most abused workers in the country right now.
