      This inspired me to do some reading but in addition to the time, Cape Horn apparently has pretty bad winds, making the trip more dangerous as well. Not sure there's any alternative she the Panama...

      This inspired me to do some reading but in addition to the time, Cape Horn apparently has pretty bad winds, making the trip more dangerous as well. Not sure there's any alternative she the Panama canal relies on fresh water, and we have less and less of that it seems.

      I'm inclined to go with the 50 year figure. As a kid in the 90s I read stuff about climate change (then "global warming") as researched in the 70s and became concerned. My parents talked me down...

      I'm inclined to go with the 50 year figure. As a kid in the 90s I read stuff about climate change (then "global warming") as researched in the 70s and became concerned. My parents talked me down with "they've been saying this for years" and... we're sort of right on the timeline. They were intentionally a bit vague, as statistics can be with errors, but it's been 50 years and it's really accelerated to this point where we the effects are undeniable.

      Edit: timeline matters a bit. A lot of the huge information for these models, to my knowledge, was cited from the 70s.
