In an unusual move, the network is keeping the names of the new voice talents confidential until the show’s season premiere (yes, there are two — one actor for Rick and another for Morty).

I figured they'd probably use two actors to best be able to capture the voice of each character. Perhaps I'm just tricking myself because I know it's a different voice actor, but Rick sounds a little different. It might not be a bad thing, just stating what I noticed and maybe others will tell me it's all in my head (which I'm aware is a possibility).

A couple of seasons have been weaker than others, but the last one felt like it was much better at "getting" what the show was about. The biggest red flag to me isn't the voices, but just...all the returning minor characters in the trailer? Could be nothing, could be a sign they're running out of ideas and are going to have another quality dip.

I've always liked it for the crazy things they can allow within multiverses while staying true to the rules of the universe. It's like Doctor Who but mad.

The reason I always thought it good is mainly Dan Harmon, whose "Community" remains one of my favourites because of its consistency. Characters will never do something out of character just for the sake of it, subsequently they all get strong character development, and the continuity in the show is incredible. Rick & Morty always managed to hit those same notes from the get go.
But when he takes a step back, so does the quality of the show. Clearly evident in the slump-seasons.

As a big fan of Dan Harmon I agree with the character consistency of Community, and how Rick and Morty suffers when his involvement decreases.

But I stopped watching around Pickle Rick. Basically my relationship with Rick, that of a viewer and a character, became an abusive relationship: I'm holding on the memories of good times only, and it feels like every week I tune in, with hope in my heart, I am slapped in the face with 'yeah well I've always been a bastard you are foolish for holding onto those good moments". It's how relationships with drunks often go. I had to step back and out of it.

Morty is even more of a tragedy. How much more pain and suffering can one human person take? Multiply that by a multiverse of suffering Mortys and concentrate the totality of it onto one boy.

From snippets I've heard it seems they are involving Summer in similar ways? I believe that the media we consume changes our worldview a little, even if we know it's a cartoon. I believe watching R&M at its worse does moral harm to the psyche of a real human person.

In Community, the study group doesn't suffer much, and they don't suffer alone. I'm just going to rewatch 6 seasons until the movie.

Yeah...I can tell the difference. Rick sounds less manic and Morty sounds less whiny. I think I'll "get used to it" once I watch a full episode and not a trailer, but I'll be lying if I said this...

I'm fine with the change. They sound close enough, and maybe they'll even bring something new to the performance. This way two different people are getting a job instead of one.

Well done, Adult Swim. The voices are a good match (not exact, but close) and the acting sounds good. I'm enthused!
