My wife got to take part in this show during the soft opening. She was a Disney Cast Member at the time so she wasn't eligible for the golden tickets (and I think they weren't handing them out yet) but she got to perform and actually won her show and made it to the finale (which she didn't win). However she loved the experience and a little girl even asked for her autograph after getting out of the final show. It was a really cool experience and she had a blast.

Later I ended up working guest control for Frozen Sing along show in the same location. I tell ya, you haven't really heard the songs from frozen until you've heard them sung by several hundred 7 year olds 5 times a day.

With it's recent introduction of Safer Seas (PvE servers), I've once again set sail in the pirate sandbox that is the Sea of Thieves. I was having difficulty enjoying the game with the constant anxiety of other players who could potentially undo hours of work collecting treasure by sinking my ship. Playing with literally just a crew of my own choosing has been an enormous game changer and made the game actually relaxing to play.

There's still plenty of peril, I spent an hour gathering treasure solo from a siren's grotto to be confronted by a ghost ship on my way to turn in me loot. I just don't need to worry about the stress of other people anymore!

when socialism goes wrong, you get psychopaths like Pol Pot and Fidel Castro!

I mentioned elsewhere, I'm not saying we adopt broken systems like those used in Cambodia or Cuba. I'm saying we as a species can come up with a system that elevates the base level of comfort for everyone and limit out-of-hand wealth acquisition.

If you ask me? Greed is the opposite of empathy. Greed is fueled by desiring more for yourself while ignoring the needs of other people.

I live in a society where capitalism is 110% the way of life. If you don't stay extra hours at your job every week? No way you're getting a promotion. Forget if you have a family you love and want to spend time with. You can maybe work your way up in the company, but not without taking the role of a slave first.

    I had an amazing job (designing LEGO models for LEGOland parks) for what I thought was a good company. When COVID hit? Literally the week before the pandemic gained it's full momentum, the company very abruptly laid off 60% of it's work force, cutting those human beings off from their health benefits. The next week, there was a meeting with the CEO - some stuffy jerk who lived on the opposite side of the Atlantic ocean from me and my coworkers. During the meeting, he said, and I quote;

"Things may look rough, but the most important thing is cash, cash, cash, and fortunately the company has a lot of cash."

Once again, he said this after deciding to cut off 60% of the workforce from their health benefits. It disgusted me. I saw the company's true colors. I had immunocompromised loved ones and the company refused to let me work from home, despite my job being 99% on computer. I quit working for them by choice shortly after.

(Not to mention these jagoffs forced me to use my Paid Time Off to care for my newborn son and cancer-stricken father before allowing me to use Family Medical Leave.)

This is what I see greed creating. And when I see somebody suggesting greed is even barely a "good thing" I feel like that's extremely short-sighted and focusing too much on short-term gains for one's self, rather than the long-term betterment of living conditions for other human beings in society.

I'm not advocating we go to past systems that are proven to not work. I believe that we as a species can come up with a better, new economic structure that can actually elevate everyone to a base...

Ironically, I'd argue the issue is even worse in those systems due to the natural tendency to centralize things, and it's a major reason why the USSR could never compete with the West.
Look at all their own industrial disasters, and the covers ups. I mean Chernobyl is a perfect example, and way, way worse than anything Boeing did.

I'm not advocating we go to past systems that are proven to not work. I believe that we as a species can come up with a better, new economic structure that can actually elevate everyone to a base level of comfort and limit the out-of-hand acquisition of wealth. We're the smartest animals on the planet to our knowledge, we can do this.

You're arguing against social Darwinism not capitalism. That same idea is compatible with socialists economics so it's not really an argument against or for either.

Thanks for providing the correct term. But whatever you want to call it, it seems to have ultimately dominated the entire mindset of too many societies in the absolute worst way. And it still makes me sick.

other companies, like Airbus are stepping and will out compete them in the long run.

I hope you're right. I hope that Boeing being held accountable won't just cause Airbus to get better at covering their tracks.

Where's that user who made that topic about capitalism being a "good thing"? @pyeri?

This. This is why capitalism is bad in the long run.

Keep cutting corners, keep trying to please the shareholders, the CEO's annual bonuses that increase every year. The quality of your product is obviously going to drop. And in this case, that drop in quality can cost hundreds of human lives.

It's the same as the train derailment that happened in East Palestine, the chodes at the top of Norfuck Southern kept pressuring the supervisors to pressure the workers in the field to work harder and faster and ignore safety checks. And what happened? A huge disaster that harmed a community that the rail line ran through.

Unregulated Capitalism makes me sick. In order to "win", others must lose. The harder everyone clamors for victory, the more people will be buried in defeat.

It would probably be better if you did care, if not for your family than for the sake of simple human empathy. You got lucky with COVID exposure, not everyone is that fortunate.

I believe I actually saw this the night it launched. I live in central FL and while I was taking the garbage out I noticed what resembled fireworks in the air, but they weren't in the direction of Disney and they were way too high in the sky. I thought it maybe could have been space junk burning up in the atmosphere, but that doesn't seem to be the case!

I took pictures and tried to record video, but it was so dark and my hands were too shaky to see anything clearly.

Simultaneously relieved and disappointed it wasn't aliens, but still pretty stoked that I saw something so unique and unexpected!

Before he passed away though, I took a day to watch a few movies with him. Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me and Rush Hour. Two movies I watched over and over with him when I was a teen. Maybe you guys had some movies you bonded over in the past?

I lost him not long afterwards but it was nice to hear him laugh a few more times before the end.

    Miss you Dad. ♥️

I'm not sure making fun of anti vaxxers, at least to their dumb faces, is the most productive course of action.

I dunno, in my experience, when someone of that mentality is confronted in that way about their wrong-ass beliefs, they tend to just get angry, dig their heels in and double down.

I live in Florida. I'm also a person of science, and believe in the benefits of vaccines. There's a family that lives down the street from me that has kids that my toddler has expressed interest in playing with. We learned from the father that his wife, a nurse, moved to our state from NJ because she didn't want to "force vaccines on people".

As soon as we learned this we've distanced ourselves from this family. The dad drills his kid and makes him do pushups for sports practice. I can't help but feel like if I made fun of him to his face, he'd punch my lights out.

If it helps... I dunno, lessen the negative perception of my state, my kid's pediatrician requires all patients to be vaccinated, as does their pre school. Not all Floridians are crazy, just some of the loudest ones.

Feels inconsequential compared to some of the other stuff here, but,

Five Nights at Freddy's. Ever since I first saw the game I thought it was just a medium for lame jump scares. I buried my head in the sand and made no attempt to learn about it, it was for kids, I was too cool for it.

When Willy's Wonderland dropped, my interest was piqued, but I realized this movie was just kind of trying to capitalize on the premise of FNAF, and it made me want an a real FNAF film. And once the trailer for the actual FNAF movie came out and I saw Jim Henson's creature shop was making the animatronics... I was all in, and enjoyed the movie quite a bit despite distancing myself from the franchise previously.

I've landed on Markiplier as my Let's Player of choice, and I've since binged him playing through the first five titles. I've actually become invested in the property and enjoy it.

Still too scared to play it for myself though 😅
