Interesting, considering that it was "cancelled" even though it was nearly finished with production on the second season back in June.

The second season was set to premiere on Paramount+ in late 2023, but was canceled that June and the series was removed from the streaming service. Wikipedia

‘Star Trek: Prodigy’ Banner Flown Over Netflix Offices in Effort to Save Show

The animated series Star Trek: Prodigy was canceled after one season despite CBS Studios having largely produced a second round. The cancellation came amid a wave of cost-cutting at Paramount+, which also resulted in the loss of several other shows. CBS Studios has remained committed to finding a new distributor for the show and is finishing postproduction work on the new episodes.

This is great news. I knew ST: Prodigy was hunting around for a second season distributor/streamer. I watched the first 10 episodes of season 1 (loved it) but have been caught up in other stuff...

This is great news. I knew ST: Prodigy was hunting around for a second season distributor/streamer. I watched the first 10 episodes of season 1 (loved it) but have been caught up in other stuff [0]. Have been unable to get back to the series.

Love that this storyline will continue to be told. It was both interesting and entertaining.

[0] side note: it's amazing how much infotainment is available these days - compared to a couple of decades ago. On a positive... it's so much easier to "bookmark" a series to be able to watch at any point. During the beforetimes:-) if you missed a series, you might not have access to it again for years.

I'm definitely thrilled this show isn't going to just be buried - - it's genuinely excellent, in my opinion on the tier of ATLA in being media for children that doesn't speak down to them. But,...

But, just judging on the level of engagement I saw on the internet, I knew it wasn't as popular as some of the other shows. I know when I tried to get my mother (who has watched all of the live action Star Trek) to watch it, she was completely uninterested.

Even then, seems like there were enough fans to make noise and get Netflix to see value in airing it. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the adventure of Dal, RokTok, Zero, Gwyn, Jankom and Murf!
