I'm a huge fan of Dropout and greatly enjoy their Game Changer and Make Some Noise series! The interview does a great job calling out their great mix of scripted/improv style and I think that's why I enjoy their content so much. It hits a certain nostalgia for me due to me enjoying Whose Line Is It Anyway as a kid, but with more wholesomeness. There's a lovely Game Changer episode called Don't Cry that is beautiful blend of comedy and kindness; it really shows the commraderie that the Dropout team has amongst each other.

For those on the fence on subscribing, Dropout has several shorts on YouTube to enjoy. If they have you rolling in laughter as they did for me, you won't regret accessing their full library.

Also shout out for the Noise Boys!

I actually subscribe to Dropout but rarely if ever watch their stuff. I desperately want to support this project. I really want there to be an independent comedy content streaming service like this that support its creators as Dropout does. Unfortunately I don't love the game show or D&D play formats. I could see getting into the D&D stuff at some point, maybe. I just wish it was economically viable for them to do skit based comedy like college humor used to do. I was a huge fan of a lot of these same people when they used to do that. But I understand it's significantly more work to write and produce a skit for significantly less airtime vs something largely improv'd like what they have now. So unfortunately, it is what it is.

And number five: is the show worth nerding out about? If you're a fan of the show, can you go deep on this show in some way?

After binging several seasons of Um, Actually on YouTube last month I absolutely felt like nerding out about it, because it's the show for nerding out about things. I finally signed up to Dropout a couple of days ago following checking out a couple of episodes of other shows as well like Game Changer and Breaking News.

Sam Reich: We are making a study of what feel good content means. Our platform is about content that makes you feel good for a variety of reasons.

I really enjoy the generally lower stakes to everything I've seen and the overall feeling of "friends having fun together" that they bring, which seems to be along the lines of what they're going for with that quote.

Maybe eventually I'll get around to the Dimension 20 series, I'm curious how they'll compare to Critical Role (which I follow but I'm not highly invested in) with the shorter seasons that are edited down.

As someone who can't keep up with 4 hours a week of CR but has really enjoyed clips, the animated show, and EX:U, I love Dimension 20. There's definitely more silliness, but if you've seen his EX:U, you know he can bring the feelings. Many Dimension 20 fans were welcoming CR fans into the experience of having Brennan ask questions about what joint on their arm would give first. Getting "Episode 2'd" is a running joke as several seasons have a pivotal 'shock' moment then.

If you want to see Matt as a player - try out Escape from the Bloodkeep which is a Side Quest and only a few episodes. If you want to Matt as a DM.... don't start with that season as it is a prequel to another season but do watch Crown of Candy for Candyland+Game of Throne vibes. Wild sci-fi world - Starstruck. Aabria also runs some amazing seasons, and I'd recommend her Court of Fae and Flowers for some regency vibes.
