I really hope they get the chance to hit up some older stories like the Darth Bane trilogy, but I doubt it'll ever come to pass.

It seems like Favreau/Filoni can’t miss but I am worried that they are under the Disney umbrella and ultimately creative control is in the hands of executives.

Meh. From everything I have read about the making of The Mandalorian, Favreau and Filoni were supposedly given "a tremendous amount of freedom" (Favreau's own words). Several of the episode directors have also previously commented on how surprised they were at being given almost total free reign while they were working on the show, too. And given how successful the show has been, I don't imagine any Disney execs will want to mess with the formula too much for the spinoff. So I'm honestly not too worried about executive interference being much of an issue for BoBF, but I guess we shall see soon enough.

Reminds me of the sysadmin paradox, where when things are going well, nobody recognizes their efforts. But when things go wrong, everyone blames them. Similar kind of bias going on in both situations.
