dysmantle is such an amazing casual game. its a top down third person game where you destroy EVERYTHING for materials to upgrade and invent new things. you dont worry about ANY inventory management, durability or survival mechanics. all the game wants you to do is break shit and explore. theres cooking, but only because the recipes you find are PERMA stat boosts that are added the first time you cook said dish. the crafting is minimal and simple, feels more like an upgrade button to me than actual crafting bs. i originally found the game because of FitGirl and put over 150hrs in on my piracy playthrough. last week i bought all of the content to replay it with my girlfriend in coop and to be a dirty completionist. it was ported to mobile sometime after release iirc. one of my all time favorite games. super simple gameplay loop but i cant put it down. great for getting stoned and zoning out with a youtube video up. ill admit that i was unsure if id like it at first, and its such a unique game that i would really recommend giving it a try-before-buy if youre able. sorry if this is mostly rambling, i just woke up but not enough of my friends know about this 10/10 game so i just had to spread the word any way i could.

if you liked dave the diver you may have a good time with this one as well, not because theyre similar gameplay wise, but more so the vibe and goofiness and just wanting to give the player a good time.

i tried mint for a solid month until out of nowhere my max desktop framerate got locked to 30 for seemingly no reason, while every program i opened would run at full 144. until that happened it was just... a fine experience. once this happened and an experienced linux friend couldnt solve the problem i just went back to win10 and tore out all the telemetry. its a shame because i know its better for me, but its STILL simply just an inferior experience* than windows to the average user imo. hell, i still cant figure out how the file system even works.

ive been using instagram reels to fill that void reddit left, and its actually better. i dont have to read some made up bs sob story title along with my meme content now. i just keep all notifications for the app blocked since facebook owned apps are horrible at sending spam/useless notis just for the purpose of creating habit.

also stay away from the comment section.

im the type of person that typically wont pay money to a subscription service every month just to get the same experience an ad blocker gives me and not much more, so this just SERIOUSLY devalued my prime sub. i doubt my wife will stop paying for prime but we definitely wont be giving their media apps traffic or ad revenue now thanks to this. i will not give someone money for the "pleasure" of being advertised to. my time has value, and i set the price.

just a little more content being thrown in the torrent pile now. oh well!

Voxelgram - free! 3d picross, learn-from-experience tutorial, loads of workshop maps, and a great ost. this is almost always my go-to game when i dont feel like using my controller or keyboard for anything at all.

Storyteller - a leveled puzzle game where you use images to fill in empty comic strips to tell a reactive and interactive story.

Potion craft - 2d object combo puzzler? you progress by finding new combos and selling them in your shop while growing said ingredients in your (hands off) garden.

Geometric sniper - cheap 2D B/W target finder in a doodle art style.

looking for aliens! - cheap alien themed wheres waldo, reactive world pieces.

mining mechs - a (cheap) STEAL of a modern 'motherlode' title with replayability due to prestiging base stats. can be played well with the right hand on KB(wasd or arrow), or the way i prefer, which is to map your controller RS in steam controller settings to output the same as LS, and just use the controller right handed. (general tip for games that dont have/use RS camera controls, wish i could remember what game does this by default and made me think to start doing this)

im willing to bet five bucks that even when they release it to PC, itll be on their own launcher only for like the first year.

tag this off topic if you think it fits, i normally just lurk here but i had to squeek out my displeasure of how the platform is being ran and handled from a consumers perspective.

unfortunately my best option is looking like blowing half a stack on a chair from the manufacturer "automomous" for about double your current budget.

id love to hear what you settle on when you decide!

Everything by voidtools stays on my taskbar right next to windows search. it searches all of your drives instantly for any type of file or folder name that matches your input text. super useful since windows search is absolutely abhorrent, even after removing telemetry and whatnot.

SuperF4 by Stefan Sundin to truly alt F4 in current decade by ctrl+alt+F4. perfect for software that wont let you normally alt F4 for whatever reason. super lightweight and no/low impact on startup.

Lightshot as others have mentioned is worth another mention. also super lightweight.

wiztree deserves an honorable mention for storage management and visualization.

    Meep!

this hansom old man makes my heart weak, and hes so sweet its crazy. sometimes he may walk into the room to brush his nose on your hand and leave, and sometimes he will chatter at you until you stop what youre doing to bond for 15 minutes.

he may be sweet and old, but hes a ferocious night time predator that hunts his 'babies' (small mice stuffies, hairbands, socks) without prejudice and with explosive energy all the way to sun break.
