I have been on a deep dive of all sorts of metal subgenres for the past year or so. I'm mainly trying to acquaint myself with subgenres that I've either never listened to, or subgenres that I've written off because the few songs I've heard haven't been my style.

That being said, the subgenre Blackgaze has been really catching my attention! It started when I finally listened to Deafheaven's Sunbather for the first time. It's exactly the kind of chill vibe I've been looking for with a dark, ominous undertone. I especially love the lack of clean vocals in music that feels like it could otherwise be easy listening for me. Never knew this would be how I break into black metal in general, but I get it finally!

It's been very refreshing to have an opinion that lies more to the center of the political spectrum and have worthwhile conversations with people on both sides so we all better understand the topic after our conversation. Reddit is full of one side or the other and doesn't leave a lot of room for nuanced opinions. I feel like this is a direct link to the quality of articles and links people here share. They want to have a conversation about the topic on hand, so the rhetoric they use to talk about it is much less inflammatory.

Haley seems much more grounded in reality than anyone I've heard run as a Republican in the past decade. She doesn't say the quiet parts out loud is basically what I took away from this article. She's trying to make herself seem more central and garner some of the on-the-fence voters. I don't know that it will be enough to sway the more staunch party members into voting for her.

My only hope is that Trump finally sees jail time for all the crap he's done. It's the definition of insane to consider him as a candidate again.

It seems like there was little to nothing she could to to help him. The team was on the most dangerous part of the mountain and could have risked their lives even more for someone who might not have even made it after their fall. They tried to do what they could and the video the Austrians submitted proves they are too far away to tell what Kristin's team did or did not do to help the dying Sherpa. I'm trying to be sympathetic to the dying man, but the fact is that the title is already trying to emotionally manipulate me.

Over the past year and a half, I've taken to Journaling a lot more and just generally writing my ideas down for the benefit of freeing up room in my mind. Sometimes these thoughts stray towards fiction and I've been thinking about amalgamating them into some sort of story. I've been mostly using my phone for this purpose since it's always close at hand. You can even dictate to your phone to get the thoughts out.

I guess what I'm saying is that the opposite approach to "sit down and write" is to always be ready to write and just have the tools you need with you. You could at least get a thought you've been processing out of your head and look at it later for further analysis.

Maybe this isn't as effective for others as it is for me, but it's what has been working for me.

I'm glad there's new news about this. They've been talking about this high speed rail for years yet nothing has seemingly been done to move the project forward. It's bad enough to the extent that if you've heard about it, you might have forgotten about it for lack of information. Hopefully this means the project is actually moving forward and we could see rail being laid soon.

More than halving the travel time for most Texans would do some pretty incredible things for the state.

This has been my username on so many platforms at this point. I remember the first time I used this name was when I was creating a World of Warcraft account in 2007. I had been listening to Nihility by Decapitated and was rifling through band names I thought sounded cool. I was playing a undead warrior and it made sense to me at the time.

I've never felt very creative with usernames, so I just keep using this username as a sort of digital trail of my life throughout the internet.

I've been struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts all of my adult life. For about 10 years I got by with a mental pact with myself that I would never actually follow through on any of the intrusive thoughts. My depression got worse a few years ago and I hadn't really noticed. I got to a point last year where I didn't know how long I could continue holding myself accountable and started wondering how long I could hold out against myself. That's when I knew I needed professional help.

I sought out a therapist after talking to my PCP about medication and being prescribed something to help. The combination of medication and therapy have really helped and made my life so much more enjoyable. There is a lot to be said for the therapy I am still attending, but I know the medication is a large part of it too.

Listen to "The Sound Heard Throughout Space" by Parius. There's not a lot of djent on the album, it's a more straightforward progression through a concept. It's a really well-done album and one of my favorites from recent years.

Fullmetal Alchemist really drew me into anime as its own form of entertainment for me. Brotherhood was also amazing, but I didn't watch it until years later.
