I can't remember where I heard this but I got two cool snippets of bar history trivia:

    1. Navy "strength" Rum/Gin is actually less alcoholic than regular Rum/Gin because navy strength meant it had to be watered down enough so if it spilled it wouldn't catch fire (or ignite gunpowder). In the video, they talk about the admiral who in 1740 made it a requirement to be watered down, but it looks like that was for other reasons so idk how correct this little fact is.

    2. Indian Pale Ale (Beer) is a specific "hoppy" type of Ale. This is because, in order to preserve the beer British soldier's rations on its 5-month long journey to India, the beer had to be pumped full of Hops. Hence the name Indian pale ale, and its distinct hoppy taste.

Admiral Adama from BSG and Ned Stark from Game of Thrones. It's a cliche but I find stoicism to be the best character trait, and I like characters who display the trait in different or new ways.

I agree, perhaps not to the same degree of zeal, but context really matters. Tildes should have a court system.

I have not really experienced what you are talking about, I feel debates have been heated which is fine, I think the solution is exactly what you are doing, raising awareness about what you feel. People are people and will react in ways that you can't strangle out or account for. As someone who hasn't felt how you feel about Tildes, ill be happy to listen, and do my personal best to change. But quitting because it's not perfect I would call disappointing and not a strong move... good luck I guess.
