Anyone have any ideas for a cool project involving an old school satellite dish? It's maybe 6-8 feet in diameter. I've seen some stuff like make an art project or an umbrella but I was hoping to use it for picking up signals again. I don't imagine I can use it to get TV but is there any satellites from universities or maybe hobby cube sats that I might be able to use?

Apologies if this is in the wrong topic it was this or ~space.

I'd love to see a third Overlord game. Just thinking of what could be done with that franchise and a modern game gets me all excited. The closest I think I've seen to a modern Overlord is the Shadows of Mordor games but of course it's missing a lot of the Pikmin-like puzzles or any humor at all.

I don't really think it's needed. As others have already pointed out if there was anything actually worth discussing it would just be news. Additionally, r/UFOs and the like have traditionally attracted a lot of anti-science discussion. While I'm sure there are a lot of very smart people in those subs, a disturbing amount of the regulars also frequent antivax, QAnon and other conservative conspiracy spaces.
I may be new here but I'd like to keep that stuff out of Tildes a while longer.

The crushing feeling that my sister is getting everything she wants in life while I'm floundering. We've always been super close but this last year has just sucked for me while she's buying a second house, working her dream job, dating a rich guy. She's always been my best friend but it's really hard not to be jealous. I've decided to limit contact with her for a while so I don't say or do anything to hurt her.

I can't afford an internship and most won't take me at this point anyway. All I seem to be able to do is just learn more potentially useful skills and shotgun applications into the void.

That's precisely my point. All your examples could be solved by just changing the words used. We are married as far as anyone who knows us is concerned. I just don't see how an official marriage makes things any more stable than just being mature adults to begin with.

If an unmarried couple grows apart like everyone does, you can just leave. Maybe there's some stuff to figure out ownership-wise but if they aren't emotionally mature enough to figure it out amicably, isn't that why they split to begin with?

What I don't understand is getting the government involved. I know that there's some minor tax benefits but like... Why? And can't any two people in the same residence file jointly anyway?
I'm not against it because "oh she's gonna take muh money!" I just don't see the appeal of two independent adults signing a paper that says they'll be together forever when they almost certainly won't.

I'm actually hoping to go this route soonish myself. I absolutely want kids but it feels so wrong to subject a new life to all of this. I'd rather just help an existing life make the most of it.
