I did have a talk and their excuse was that currently we just do not have that many overseas projects.
So I am basically on stand-by.

I moved to Japan 3 years ago, and yeah I used to visit a lot before the big move.
I am loving the country, culture, food.

I love games/tech/nerdy stuff, and I find it so much easier to enjoy my hobbies in Japan.
Whereas it was difficult where I grew up. (The Netherlands)

This country lives on events/collaborations, so I always have something to do and a nice excuse to leave the house because there is always another Gundam event going on, or an aquarium is doing a collab with one of my favorite games. Things you'd never see in Europe.

This is of course, only enjoyable during your private time, and working at a Japanese company makes me realize there are a lot of things I took for granted back in Europe.

    • I only have around 20 days of PTO per year, I can never take longer than 2 weeks off at a time. (Used to have around 40 days in NL, and I was able to take a month off at a time)
    • The company does not provide tea/coffee, which is a given in NL.
    • I have to use my PTO for a sick day, which again is not the case in NL. They have special sick days which do not affect your PTO.

I have to say I got used to living here faster than I thought, and living here made me not want to go to the tourist spots ever again after visiting them as a tourist before. Also, if you speak a little Japanese, pretty much everyone here will go out of their way to support you. (as long as they can see you are actually making an effort, which is a big cultural thing here. People making an effort have to be supported by the community, while being not putting in any effort will be ignored)

So far the good outweights the bad however, and tomorrow I'm going in to switch my drivers license to a Japanese one so I'll be able to get around a bit more freely.

Started when I was young, practicing throwing up M&Ms and catching them with my mouth.

Now I am able to catch anything thrown at me from the other side of the room as long as it fits in my mouth.

That, and I can turn my tongue upside down.

Moved to Japan, joined one of the biggest financial institutions in the country.
Was told I could use my international skills (English language being the main one) to be part of the global team.

I am in the team but 90% of my work ended up being the same as the Japanese employees.
I am fluent in Japanese, but no matter how long I study, reading and writing emails/reports takes twice as long for me. It's quite frustrating..

I am unable to use my English or my experience overseas, and I end up feeling like I am dumb since I cannot keep up with the Japanese employees with all the Japanese work.

But whatever it is, we do it together.

The same goes for her birthdays. (Which almost always end up being going to Disney and staying at a disney hotel)

2 years ago, it was just staying at home ordering pizza and gaming together the entire day with a cake at the end.
Last year, we took a small trip to a small village in the middle of nowhere because the town is famous for their 'Youkai' statues, called the "Youkai town". (We live in Japan) I love Japanese mythology and it was an amazing day for me. My wife is not very much into it, but she joined me and ended up having a blast.

This year,, not sure yet. I am thinking of asking to go to up north to the Dinosaur fossil town.

Phones are even more expensive(2/3 times the price even), but I do not see anyone complaining about phone packaging.

I would say that stores/people just have to use common sense and not use a staple gun on items.
Trying to partially blame the packaging is weird to me, unless it was wrapped in newspapers only.

I have a Switch 2 and the packaging was appropriate for the contents. (Also when ordering online, the Switch 2 box comed packed inside a larger box so you cant see its a Switch)

I do not see why Nintendo should account for metal being shoved inside the packaging.. which is not the norm anywhere that I know of.

Might as well demand they make their packaging water-proof just in case a store employee decides to dump their drinks on it.

There are a lot of recommendation but I'm slowly giving them all a go.

    Adding a couple!

    • Zone of the Enders (Epic, futuristic but tribal at the same time)
    • Kingdom Hearts
    • Anything from any Touhou game
    • Little Witch in the Woods
    • Nikke: Goddess of Victory
    • Lufia 2
    • ANNO: Mutationem
    • Mabinogi duel (Old Korean mobile TCG that has been closed/removed, but the OST is so good)
    • Yu-gi-oh Master Duel

What's neurodiverse? Google also didn't explain.

Either way, I don't like lyrics because they disctract me when I'm working, and I enjoy the experience of background music more than actively listening to a song. Most of the time when I’m listening to music, I don’t really want to think about someone else’s relationships, life, and social/political issues.

Doesn't mean I hate songs with lyrics though, around 10% of my playlist has lyrics.

Big YES to Ar Tonelico. I am not able to see your link or check the song's name, but off the top of my head I believe my favorite track is called Exec.Sphilia or something similar.
Just love the made up language and it sounds so enchanting.

Last night while my wife was going through my Spotify to pick a song to listen to while I was driving, she mentioned that 90% of my library consists of instrumentals. (Most of which are game OSTs) I find it much more pleasant to listen to, instead of song with lyrics.

Which made me wonder, there might be some hidden/not so hidden gems that I might be missing out on!
Please share your favorite game OSTs with everyone. (New gems, old gems! Either the entire OST or even 1 song of a game! we don't discriminate!)

Bonus point if it's on Spotify

    What I currently listen to:

    • Armored core 6
    • Shadow of the Erdtree
    • God of War: Ragnarok
    • Nier: Automata
    • Devil May Cry 5
    • Celeste
    • Scarlet Nexus
    • Zenless Zone Zero
    • Silent Hill
    • Flipwitch (Which I understand to be an 18+ game, which I have NEVER played. I just happened to find the OST on shuffle and it got me addicted. Try the song "A Witch's Thoughts")
    • Cult of the Lamb
    • Fable
    • Atelier series

But it is quite a popular handlename, so I often end up turning it into "Exial", "Exialt" etc.

    Before this I used "Mutekitate".
Which is just Japanese for "Invincible shield", with my wife using an ID that is a play on "sword".

My oldest one is RainbowPuppeteer. (Fan of Touhou games, and my fav character was Alice, who, in the game, is called the seven coloured puppeteer)

I agree with you that what you explained is indeed the goal for companies is to protect the first few months, however I would say that cracking/pirating a game in the first few months is not the goal for pirates.

Once a game gets their Denuvo removed and it gets cracked/pirated afterwards, pirates would chalk that up as a win. Usually because in these times people are not in a hurry to play games as people usually have a huge backlog.

All in all, I still do not think Denuvo is going to prevent/defeat piracy, but I do think that it defends the sales that companies are looking for as you mentioned.

Interesting, thank you for letting me know.
The thing is, I still would not say Denuvo is winning against piracy.

Denuvo is expensive and only a handful of publishers are able to keep up the Denuvo license before the licence costs outweigh the profit, and the game gets pirated after the license is gone.

the other 99% of games still get pirated.. and those websites are updated with new cracked games on a daily basis. (Albeit not AAA games that released a week ago)

Sure, Denuvo is the market leader in this, but I would say the few publishers that are willing to pay for it are not representative of the gaming industry, and the crack status of these few games are certainly not representative of what is going on in the piracy world.

    When did this happen?

Last time I checked, most recent big title games are still getting cracked.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a good example.

Steam is just delivering good service, and people that used to pirate games now just buy them.
I used to pirate games an awful lot. (Heck, I still do sometimes)

But now I buy games on steam without even playing them, purely because I used to play them a long time ago. Steam has made it so easy to have your games in 1 single place which is easy to manage, with frequent sales etc.
