I grew up in the US and have been "back" in Germany for several years now, so I lived in two very different places regarding guns and it's a topic I've always kept my eyes on. Plus, I've had a 3D-printer and have been actively printing and developing my own things since 2017, and have watched some videos on the FGC-9.

I currently do not think that 3D-printed weapons, specifically guns, are a game changer on the large scale in countries with stricter gun controls/access. The main thing about how the populace perceives guns in the US is that they're sort of a meme, for lack of a better word - Defend your house? Use a gun because the other person might have a gun. Government did something? Wave your gun around. Etc. The answers to these questions on this side of the Atlantic are very different. As such, I doubt many people have printed guns on their minds as solutions for anything. However, some idiot somewhere, at some point, will undoubtedly use a printed weapon or such in an attack here, and laws will react, but I feel neither 3D-printing nor the laws will affect my safety one way or another. Plus, acquiring bullets, or materials for bullets, sounds as cumbersome as acquiring large amounts of fertilizer or stealing a truck... and just as likely to have the police show up at my door.

Considering 3D-printing hasn't greatly impacted financially lucrative markets such as, uh, Warhammer minis, I don't think it will have a huge impact on public safety.

I'm no linguist and no expert, but what's "just slang" and what's "a real word"? I think its use and meaning is fairly concretely defined, but the stigma persists....

I wasn't aware some people are trying to make a fuss about "singular they" until recently. When I first heard someone complaining about it, I was taken aback. In every book I've read since then, I made sure to notice singular they to see if it is or isn't a thing in decades past (the oldest book I read being Dune from the 1960s), and yeah, it was present in all I read.

Adding to your points, "ain't" is also a few centuries old! Its use has always been stigmatized, I believe...

When talking with people, I'm always surprised how few know how old modern architecture is. I'm no expert on the subject, but it began around 1900 and became more widespread in the 1920s and 30s in Europe and North America. I guess simple forms and surfaces seem anachronistic to many people when they think about that long ago!

As an adendum to this: I play on a Minecraft server that has a city with an America 1920s theme - golden age and all that, but no real modern buildings, as far as I saw. I asked why and got the answer "it wouldn't fit the theme". I think that's a shame, really.

Listened to it just now, thanks for the recommendation! It was definitely interesting, loved some of the songs like Lost in Introspection, but it's not quite something I'll be blasting yet.

I've mostly been listening to what I've been getting into these last few months. The album City by Strapping Young Lad is exemplary of this and I love it. Last night I was also giving the new album Of Truth and Sacrifice by Heaven Shall Burn a proper listening on my headphones. Previously I had just listened to it on the side in the car. Great stuff, but one song caught my attention I hadn't noticed previously: La Résistance. My mind is being boggled. This is the exact kind of music, a fusion of synth, bass, and metal - I can't quite describe it - that I've always been searching for but could never really find. The only other song that came close was Ausländer by Rammstein. I'll now actively look for stuff in this direction because it's exactly my thing. Would anyone happen to have any recommendations?
