YNAB is a proactive zero based budgeting, and is a rather bombtastic product itself. Everything else I've used to "budget" is more just an afterthought on expense tracking. Mint, for example, doesn't make you proactively think about your money. You just see after 30 days that you spent too much on one category and go "okay i'll try to stop that"

YNAB, on the other hand, forces you to 'assign' your dollars a job. So if you overspend in one category you have to pull money out of another category to fund it. It really helps reinforce good spending habits, because in order to cover that impulse video game purchase you just made, you may have to take out funds that were budgeted towards your car repair category.

I don’t think it’s necessarily that people expect everything to be free. But when we’re all used to the “give them a good service now to draw them in, then extract money once we’ve gotten a user base” tech phase, that changing and all our apps we’ve built established things around al starting to squeeze us for subscriptions and purchases is just beyond exhausting.

It's probably more that the group of people boycotting Netflix and the people signing up after this went into effect aren't the same people?

This is one of the things I like about Tildes so far. An option like that is specifically designed for hate. I want to spend my time on these sites talking with other nerds about homelab stuff and niche 30 year old RPGs no one cares about. Not feel the urge to constantly validate myself by looking at comments people are metaphorically laughing at for being ridiculous

I've only been here a few days, but as a member of the LGBT group myself, I feel like Tildes will thrive based on the "we can't be tolerant of the intolerant" mantra. I get wanting to remain "neutral" so you don't appear to be taking a side, but to me that just means you're taking a side. A side that is rightfully trying to strip away me and my friends' rights. Sure you may not be VOCALLY supporting them, but by "wanting to hear both sides" or something, you are empowering toxic, hateful speech that historically has led to some very tragic events that we're all well aware of.

"both sides" is a fine argument if we're talking way less serious things like pineapple on pizza or toilet paper roll front or back. But you can't "both sides" human rights. You're either for human rights, or you should be laughed out of the room and never given any serious attention.

I've seen many great communities go down the toilet becuase when some lunacy shows up they want to allow "open discussions", but by letting (And I HATE to use this word) Nazis into your household and not immediatley getting rid of them, you're just asking to be taken over.

Idk, maybe I'm rambling a bit but history tends to repeat itself for a reason, and as someone who currently lives in the South and is trying to escape, seeing people try to "both sides" whether I should be allowed to exist or not is just super mentally exhuasting. I want to talk about 30 year old niche video games no one cares about, not have "fair" debates on whether I should have rights.

Reddit's growth was built on third party apps. Back when reddit didn't have an app, and their mobile site was garbage (to be fair it still is, but now it's on purpose to funnel people into the app), third party apps were how people engaged on mobile. Reddit is only what it is BECAUSE of third party apps, and it's a spit in the face to see them being treated like this. Especially when mobile Reddit is the primary way people use the site (because of the like 15 years of mobile third party apps + wanting to mimic other mobile first social things)

A whole other conversation is the irony of Reddit charging devs for "its API and content" when all of the content on Reddit is provided by free from the users. Our posts, comments, videos, memes, livestreams are all from us. The Reddit 'staff' don't actually provide anything but the infrastructure. And sure, you're allowed to charge for that use, but you should remember that the only reason you're actually able to stay in business is because people keep coming back. Once you start enshittifying yourself, it's a gauranteed cycle (could be slow, could be overnight) into irrelevancy and something will take your place sooner or later

I've been using You Need A Budget (https://www.ynab.com/) for a while now. It's a proactive, digital envelope, zero sum budgeting system thathas radically changed my relationship with money and has drastically improved my financial wellbeing in the two short years I have been using it.

    I cannot recommend it enough

Hello everyone. Long time veteran of Reddit (couldn't really tell you exactly when I joined) that is one of the many people coming over here becasue of the API/third party shenanings about to happen

Currently I am a Junior Systems Admin (though the official title is "IT Systems Configuration and Progamming Analyst" for a large scale state university. I am an all around nerd who spends a lot of time on video games (retro/emulation, indies, and games from JP developers). I am particularly obsessed with the Drakengard/Nier universe, and will unironically rant about it for HOURS (seriously don't get me started).

Apart from that, I'm also a fan of books and movies (particularly horror), and music (really any genre, as long as there's a groove I can vibe with). I love computers/hardware, and general "nerd" culture.

    Hope to become a regular!

I'm not crazy keen on the way the Sage abilities are implemented, just because their spirits either seem to always be in the way or always far away from where you need them.

Riju's power annoyed me so much because of how it has to charge up before what you want to hit is in range for her lightning. The other powers had a very instant activate to use immediately kinda vibe, but with her's you had to spend way too much time kiting around so BOTH you and her aren't hit or else you're just wasting time since it can also time out after a while.

I'm really liking the game but man her power really made me grumpy, especailly during the fire temple boss fight and trying to use her power against the Gibdo spawns while dodging all the Gibdo trying to gank you
