I need to be clear that we're not a traditional research center. It's not even private. Then again it's not wholly public either. What is her research area?
Again, appreciate this is over a month old. And I'm so sorry I neglected to answer!

Especially auto immune disorders. It's not all an exercise in futility.
Cancer is your body turning on itself to your detriment. To cure cancer you need to stop that happening.
For the general "we are this close to beating cancer!" I think it's more of a matter of DNA editing. Body hacking. So no, unfortunately I don't think anyone is close.

It's a place you go for passion or as a stepping stone cuz it looks freaking sexy on your CV. If you're looking for money, you should go to pharma. We're the precursor to pharmaceuticals in that we figure out how disease affects the human body and pave the way for treatments.
If you're the sort who doesn't care about money, then it's really just a matter of demonstrating aptitude. We hire same as anyone, e.g. best person for the job. I'm in London, and obviously it's fiercely competitive here.
Edit: it's actually a heck of a lot of fun. We're kind of a weird cult.

We did a poll, and the users overwhelmingly chose to go dark for a 48 hour period. The mod team is under no illusion that our smallish sub about a tattoo reality TV competition show being private is gonna shut down Reddit, but we thought it was ethical to stand with fellow sub mods, 3rd party admin, and others affected by the changes.
However, now I'm skimming some talk here and on discord, and I see that there are those who think this is stupid, ineffectual, that you're not really protesting unless you shut down forever. On a level I can understand that, but I am worried that we're reaching a point where we're no longer in 2 camps, for or against. We're in several camps of 48, 72, indefinite, account purge, account deletion, and we're gonna turn on each other and achieve exactly fuck all and in fact make things worse.
Edit: errant apostrophe

LadyF I actually really love the blackout aesthetic. Especially with negative space designs or white ink. LadyF Maybe it's the psychological aspect of you "can't" eat rather than "won't". Either way, I also struggled for about the first 2 weeks. I went from exceedingly motivated to utterly exhausted. But...Maybe it's the psychological aspect of you "can't" eat rather than "won't". Either way, I also struggled for about the first 2 weeks. I went from exceedingly motivated to utterly exhausted. But then it passed and I settled into a usual routine. I drank ridiculous amounts of water too so that meant uh... Frequent pee trips.
I started on 16/8 with the occasional 20/4. What about you?
I marched in London Pride earlier this month. You might have seen that the parade was interrupted by Just Stop Oil protestors. I didn't see it myself as we were ahead of where they interrupted the parade, but we got to talking about it later.
Kind of a hard one. At the core, I don't disagree with their message. But on the other hand, this was a parade to demonstrate inclusivity and to stand up as a group and say TERFS aren't okay and we stand with our trans friends. It felt like being usurped in a way. And I couldn't help having a "Fuck off" defensive response. I feel conflicted and guilty about being conflicted.
Have to say tho... London does a really good job of keeping the counter protestors and anti LGBTQ+ folk corralled away from the flow. Was a good day with amazing vibes and I got to hang out with the cast of Heartstopper!
