I hadn't heard of this game. After looking it up, I can see the appeal. Looks interesting with a variety of gameplay, light-hearted tone. I'll keep an eye on it and pick it up if it goes on sale....

To be honest, the tone of the original post just seems quite dismissive. It's a game that people like, what's the big deal?

I speak from experience having a 100w full stack valve amp in my cave at home...

I'm currently reading a fantasy book called 'King of Fools' by Mark Lawrence. Viking hero and feckless prince bound together and off to save the world. I'm about 80% through at the moment. I don't love it, I don't hate it, it's ok. Just lacking something to elevate it so far.

After this it'll be back onto the Expanse books. Read book one and really enjoyed it. Got books 2 & 3 on the shelf ready to go. Looking forward to getting stuck in! I had initially worried that having watched most of the Amazon series would render the books boring, but that hasn't been the case at all.

Perdido Street Station is an excellent book, one of my favourites. If you end up enjoying it, I'd also recommend 'The Scar' by the same author which is set in the same world.

We've started roasting broccoli with a bit of olive oil on top with some salt and pepper. Surprisingly delicious! I didn't even know roasting broccoli was a thing you could do..

Not only that, it's hard to put a value on owning a massive global game franchise.. that can sell your console, and potentially end up with spin off TV programmes, films, merch etc. At that level I'd expect the value to be a billion or more.

It's an interesting look at some of the economics of the industry that we rarely get to see though.

A small thing, but try to unpack and put away everything in the first week or two. You'll actually feel like you're living in a home then. Not so much an issue if you don't have much stuff to start with, but gets progressively harder as time goes on. I know people with still-to-be-unpacked boxes years later - don't be like them!

I'm surprised these performance benefits aren't higher up. Yes, SSDs are generally more expensive than a HDD, but the increased bandwidth enables all sort of technical wizardry that would otherwise be impossible. I'm particularly thinking of large scale, high quality texture streaming in games. It just wouldn't be possible if we didn't have SSDs.

So I embrace the new minimum standard of SSDs for gaming, as I'm excited to see what cool stuff it enables, when devs aren't forced into supporting the slower HDDs.
