I've been getting into Chinese style cooking and playing with Japanese too. I've had to avoid fat lately so I've been concentrating on getting flavors from spices, hot peppers and things like bonito flakes, soy sauce etc... Right now I'm focusing on sechuan styles for China which has been really interesting playing with the flavors.

Hey good luck with your assessment. Remember if one doctor says no you can always get a second opinion (if in the US). I was recently diagnosed with ADHD which has been profoundly helpful in addressing areas I have struggled with in my life. My therapist thinks I may have some nuerodivergent stuff beyond ADHD but it's not severe enough to warrant an assessment. If your female it may be helpful to find a provider who understands the differences in expression of autism spectrum in females. Otherwise if you do find out it's not autism spectrum you can keep advocating until you find something that fits. Good luck

For some reason I'm feeling very alone and isolated the past couple weeks. The holidays are hard because of trauma memory stuff, minor health issues and I'm feeling pretty sad and more anxious tbh. My first semester of advanced education is almost finished which I'm super proud of but yeah I'm struggling in myriad of ways, but I'll get through it.

Sometimes trauma will resurface when we're at a safe point in our lives. Like if our basic needs are met our brains will say okay sounds like a good time to open up this crap and sort it out. Also seasons or anniversaries may trigger these things. I hope you are able to continue moving forward and making progress no matter how small it seems, it's worth it.

I ended a relationship, moved across the state (US), dates and broke up with someone else (we constantly checked in on our social distance measures) and went back to school during the pandemic. My mental health has fluctuated; I go from feeling great to terrible with no trigger or precipitating event. Now that I'm vaccinated I've started going out in socaly settings and dating. But now with rises in variants I'm starting to feel the constant anxiety again from being around people. I understand I probably won't get hospitalized but the idea of getting long covid scares me. Like Algernon said above, I may seek out a pandemic buddy to help with physical touch. I wish I could relax for longer than a couple months but until we all follow proper procedures this will keep happening.

I'm someone who needs that physical contact even before the pandemic. We're social creatures and in high anxiety situations it's understandable to have an increased need for hugs and physical touch. My roommate also doesn't like hugging or physical touch. After the pandemic I've also seeked out more people to date and I'm finding a significant driving force for this is my need for affection/physical touch - it's not even sexual.

Kudos on having a pandemic buddy, that's such a meaningful connection.

I'm trans and found immense relief from dysphoria after starting hormones. The way I think about it, is that my brain knew what the blueprint of my body I'd my chemical makeup was supposed to be like and my body didn't match this so hormones corrected it.

Prior to being on hormones I had an overwhelming feeling of discomfort and a nagging almost painful feeling in my body that made me feel "off".

Hormones have fixed that for me. I have this theory that gender dysphoria and body dysmorphophobia are a similar vein - it's just for trans people it's fixed by a variety of things (hormones, surgery, or living as preferred gender). Even if society said you can be a girl without hormones I'd still choose hormones because I feel physically and emotionally better.
