I absolutely loved the first season of Heartstopper, but I didn't get hooked into the second one for some reason. Maybe I'll give it another try.

I gave those artists a listen and I am surprised at how I like pretty much everything Spotify has from Miranda. Love Hallucinogen (and anything else from Simon Posford). Good stuff, thanks for sharing!

After reading your comment, I checked out this game and it turns out they have a free demo. If anyone else is curious, you can go to shapez.io in a web browser (doesn't work on mobile) and there's a few levels to play, which got me hooked. You can also save your progress from the web version and continue in the full paid version from steam. I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Thanks for sharing!

Yeahhh Shpongle! I love all the levels of detail in their music. The 10k ft view to the 1 ft view, I find there's so many ways to listen. I can listen to all the sounds and rhythm as they interplay for the cohesive experience, or I can pick one "instrument" to follow, or any combination of instruments and melody in between, which changes my experience of the song, but it's always remarkably interesting.

My partner and I have been watching White Collar. It's a show about an fbi agent and his felon consultant catching white collar criminals. The episodes have a similar feel to a heist, with competent people doing what they do best. The general vibe is playful and wholesome. I was turned on to wholesome shows since watching Ted Lasso and have been hunting them down since. If there's a show with competence, playfulness, and wholesome together, I'll probably enjoy it!

    Here's my 5:
All Them Witches - The Children of Coyote Woman - Not sure how to describe this. Maybe southern (US) folk or ballad, or folk ballad?
Ensiferum - Twilight Tavern - Finnish folk metal.
New Jeans - Super Shy - Very cute DnB track from Korean girl group.
Slikback - SEQUENCE - Mesmerizing electronic track from Kenyan artist.
GMS - Juice (1200 Micrograms remix) - I love psytrance.

I remember doing lahar drills at school a few decades ago, but we only practiced gathering near the street. From there, we were told the next steps were to run up the hill (we were in a valley), but first stop by the elemental school that way (someone pointing) and pick up a few kids. I didn't know where that elementary school was or how far "that way" I'd have to go to find out and I'm not sure how many others knew since this school included more than just ppl from its town. So in an event of emergency, I assumed there would be no coordination and it would turn into complete chaos. I'm glad to see lahar drills are more thorough now and include actually walking an evacuation route.

So, I've rewritten my comment a few times now due to anxiety. I'm gonna try and run with this one...

I have a lot of fears that come from feeling a lack of trust and safety. I also feel guilt and shame easily, so I'm also afraid of things like being called out for being good at something, or messing up at anything, saying anything that could possibly be interpreted in a negative way. So i don't speak much and it's hard to make friends, collaborate, or have fun around others.

But I am doing okay these days thanks to therapy, exposure, support from a few loved ones, and a lot of perseverance.

Therapy helped me understand that my fears were once useful and they helped me survive and protect me from what I learned in my childhood was dangerous. I learned to appreciate them and give permission for them to relax since I'm older and wiser now. It started as fight or flight, then flight, and now it's the permission to feel a little embarrassed instead of heavy shame. I'm still working on it.

Exposure comes mostly from my job these days. Talking to people, turning on my camera (I've been working remote the past few years) , and speaking up in meetings is hard. I do it anyway. I used to literally shake in my chair. My voice would quiver. I would mis speak, skip words, bad grammar. Then when I'm done, I'd go over the experience over and over again in my head and completely miss what else happened in the meeting. I'd stay up at night remembering how it went. Over the years I've gotten better at it. Therapy helped me develop self compassion and this let me give myself grace when I didn't speak as well as I could have, or feel embarrassed. Tiny improvements added up over time.

Thanks for making this post and everyone who posted comments. It's inspiring to read your experiences. It also gave me a chance to challenge myself and feel proud of how far I've come. I feel a dash of what I think is shame for being selfish but I no longer feel stupid for feeling a little proud.

I don't have a community but I used to be a part of the local poi spinning community. I found it hard to keep up once I started my most recent job at a large tech firm because it leaves me pretty wiped out. These days I keep to a handful of close friends. Only a few still live nearby, but I'm grateful we keep in touch pretty regularly.

I do wish I had a community but covid let me fully embrace the introvert in me and I've also developed quite a bit of social anxiety. I've always had some social anxiety but frequently challenged myself throughout my 20s until I didn't notice it anymore. And then covid happened and it came back. Honestly, these days I'm not as interested in socializing as I used to be. So as much as I wish I had a community, what I really want is to magically have more close friends with similar interests.

Been playing Stardew Valley for the 3rd time, but this time for the 1.6 update. The developer, ConcernedApe, added so much content and released it as a free update when this could have easily been paid DLC content. I'm playing co-op with my partner, but it supports up to 8 ppl playing together. It's been quite fun. I really enjoy the variety of gameplay from farming to cave diving, and I love how much efficiency can return greater profits.

I have mad respect for jugglers. Poi was hard enough for me to learn but juggling made poi seem easy in comparison. No string to keep the ball close 🤣. Fire juggling blows my mind every time I see it.

Heh I can understand where you're wife is coming from, as I'm American as well.

I used to spin fire with the local fire spinning/flow community now and then. Also went to Pacific Fire Gathering a few times. But I haven't been going out much since the COVID lockdowns. Seems my habits and routine has changed. Spinning fire was always an amazing experience though. Being able to hear the firey woosh of each poi was like having another set of eyes to see where each poi is instead of just feeling it when it's not in my view. I really loved that.

I take it you're a spinner as well?

Maybe related, but I spin poi, though I haven't been spinning much since I got my frozen shoulder earlier this year. Poi was hard for me to get into because messing up felt pretty bad with tangled cords and sometimes knocking the glasses off my face 🤣. But eventually it starts to feel graceful until it's just being in the flow. It was also a lot of fun at music festivals.

I tried yoyos for a little bit and it reminded me of learning poi. The potential for pain seemed a bit higher though as I whacked a knuckle a few times with my bony hands and man did that hurt. I didn't get too deep into it but I did develop a lot of respect for throwers.

I've been playing Dave the Diver and enjoying it a lot. It switching things up between running a sushi joint and diving for ingredients. But there's also a ton of mission quests and other content that I'm not including because spoilers. I enjoy the progression and it doesn't feel like such a grind. It's not too hard but enough difficulty that it's engaging. It's also forgiving in that it doesn't punish you too bad for messing up. It's been a great game to relax and chill out to after a busy work day.

I'm generally a fan of harder, newer rock, metal, or electronic stuff, but Pink Floyd's Shine On You Crazy Diamond off the live Pulse album always blows me away. Regardless of how many times I listen to it, every listen on a good sound system seems to leave me speechless with how beautiful and perfect it is, down to the timing, execution, and expression of every note of every instrument, and the spaces between. I've seen a lot of live shows, but they're generally from the rock, punk, metal, or electronic genres, so maybe there's less of the nuance that I'm so captivated by in Pink Floyd. I've never seen them live and a part of me is a little bummed I'll never experience that but I'm just glad there was an excellent recording.
